Well tell us what you wanted one for at least.
Friend asked if I knew anyone that might let him use a TS server for a bit, I told him I'd ask around. Turned out he just didn't feel like booting up his own server.
i almost want to do all 14 8000ers just to be on the list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-thousander but that'd be insane
Friend asked if I knew anyone that might let him use a TS server for a bit, I told him I'd ask around. Turned out he just didn't feel like booting up his own server.
man that laziness
I've had some network issues where some older devices would just drop off the network for a few seconds. Turns out that my switch, thanks to bugged firmware, decided not to actually switch anything. Any packet it received got broadcast out each port and when ever there was net >100Mbps traffic the older 100Mbit devices would either lock up or disconnect themselves from the network for a few seconds. Firmware updated -> switch switching -> happy network
Against my better financial judgment and my hatred of Asus I bought a T100 (the full Windows 8 tablet hybrid.) I like it. Unlike my laptop, it gets battery life past one hour and doesn't take literally 10 minutes to start Chrome.
Welcome to the T100 club, friend. I suggest trying IE for Metro before you decide to only use Chrome. It actually works really well, and Chrome has some issues when running on lower power touch devices.
Sure is nice having one of these available whenever I need it. Breaks shit if I'm not careful though. Since you guys use canned air regularly, has anyone thought of buying one of those 12v compressors they have for cars, and hooking it up to a 12v wall wart? You can get like four times the pressure, forever for the price of three or four cans.
That's part of the reason why I don't use the compressor directly for this. It's great for cleaning a case out if you have nothing in it. However you seriously need to step the PSI down if you want to clean anything else. That and get a small nozzle.
Just ordered some SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM, and I noticed in the delivery options that I can have it delivered, through normal mail, as a letter, because of the size. I just ordered some RAM, straight to my door. We in the future now. The packaging is obviously a bit tougher than a regular letter duh, I'll need to remember to leave my inside door open so it can get through without problems.
Why, make a thread like that? That shit really annoys me.
He told them explicitly they'd be banned for posting in there. People think they are cool and won't post in there. It's a simple method.
On another note, I took some photos of the inside of an old hard drive: [t]http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag90/TheRoboChimp/_1020780_zps2aeda068.jpg[/t] [t]http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag90/TheRoboChimp/_1020784_zpsfff5633f.jpg[/t] Don't worry it's an old 10,000 RPM 34GB drive from 2005 and I don't think it worked.
He can take solace in the fact that I still have a working 450GB 10,000RPM drive as the main boot drive in one of my machines.
That would make him angrier. You should be using a 1RPM Zip drive.
This is interesting, http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/14/atm-windows-xp-costs/?a_dgi=gravity&cps=gravity
Believe it or not, roughly 95 percent of ATMs in the world are still running Windows XP -- and that's about to become an expensive problem. Machine designer NCR says that only a third of banks will upgrade their ATMs to a newer OS before official XP support ends on April 8th, leaving many institutions little choice but to pay Microsoft for an extended contract if they still want support. At least some banks plan to update, but they're facing both technician backlogs and steep transition costs; estimates suggest the big UK firms might pay up to £60 million ($100 million) each to make the leap. Whether or not your bank joins the modern era, you shouldn't be surprised if you end up footing some of the bill.
I thought XP embedded would have a couple more years of support?

I hate it when you can't work due to technical problems caused by someone/something else, but it's your fault you haven't finished your work.

The laptop was brand new, had a designed for XP sticker on it. At the time I couldn't figure out why, it just seemed crazy. Those IT guys must have been real wizards to get an outdated OS on a new system, they must have had to edit drivers or something. It was an IBM thinkpad.

So, question for you US people. If i was to send someone into some decent store in the NY area to get 2x4 GB RAM, anyone got an example price. Got a relative going there soon, and electronic prices are still better in the US right ?

Why so locked down?
Pentium's probably fuming
[t]http://i.imgur.com/sNtTPgY.jpg[/t] sup. all of these worked, maybe (well, minus the one with the massive scratch on it) but I didn't bother checking because they're all ~7GB and PATA is dead
