Actually just checked. rMBP with dedicated GPU and 512GB SSD is $2600. Blade with 512GB is $2700. That's US money, not sure if there's a markup for Australia. There probably is. Honestly I think the Blade is worth the extra hundred bucks. More pixels + touchscreen + better GPU. However the Blade doesn't have Optimus and the SSD is SATA, not PCIe like the MBP. I'd take that tradeoff, honestly.

The blade comes with an i7 4702HQ, which has intel HD graphics build in. It also has a nVidia GPU, I don't see why Optimus isn't supported.

Basing it off of my Y500, which has a i7 3630QM which also is supposed to have HD4000 onboard yet Optimus is not supported. This leads me to the conclusion that if Optimus is supported then a company would advertise it.

In that case, battery life should be decent. I doubt it would be able to match a MacBook Pro, but it should be far better than any other Gaming laptop.

i would consider that razer laptop if it wasn't so silly looking. it looks like they took design hints from monster
nothing screams rice like lime green on black. i'd also have to see how it performs in real life situations, because an 870m in that form factor does not sound like it would be very good at keeping quiet or cool

It's cheaper to buy a Thunderbolt-Expresscard then Expresscard-PCIe adapter but of course then you are limited to 1x.

I'd hold off on the razer laptop anyway because Maxwell 20nm will let hopefully 880M levels of performance in a chassis that thin.
