It's a business model that works for them, but not me. I'd like to own my software, where is the option to buy it outright? On the foundry website you can buy or rent a copy of Nuke and Autodesk have a similar thing. Adobe has chosen an "our way or the highway" business model and I choose the highway. Ok perhaps I was wrong about lock in contract.
Think about that for a second, when have they never NOT offered that kind of business scheme? When have they EVER offered alternative payment schemes. That doesn't add up.
But what if you don't care about the 2014 updates and only want to pay for a 2013 experience, it's not like you can pay $2000, that option is gone.
If the subscription runs out you're software stops working what then? I pay $1000 in 2014 and in 2016 I have to pay another $1000 for features I'm not fussed about? A closed system is a computer not connected to the internet.
I think you're getting too upset over that post. I'm saying I should be given options here.
When you cancel you keep the current version you just don't get updates and new shit. Also refunds based on when you cancel.
Who said I wanted or needed to update it every 2 years. What I mean to say was they could increase the price of CC. I'd love to pay $3000 and not have worry for a while. The price scheme may for some, but it doesn't mean I like having options taken away.
Hey, maybe you should read their licenses and things you get when signing up for services. You'll understand that they kinda just can't do that.
I'd love to pay $3000 and not have worry for a while.
So for $3000, you can buy creative cloud, get the latest version of everything and not have to worry about paying or updating for the next four and a half years
By then, you'd probably be wanting to update to the new version of CSwhatever would've been out by then
If could just pay $1000, cancel the subscription and the only consequence being no updates, that would be fine. But it's the fact that constantly I need to fork out money that I hate. And it also has to check the server every month or so for some reason, I mean come on. So I'll live with CS6 and move on to a different software package when the time comes.
And creative cloud includes everything, master collection is normally $4000
At $50 a month that's over 6 and a half years of a CC subscription
i also like the launcher where you can just download and install the application you want without fuss
and it also gives you cloud storage

It's only $30 a month if you upgrade from CS6, too. That's 11 years for $4k. 11 goddamn years. Who gives a fuck at that point.
And it also has to check the server every month or so for some reason
If you're paying every year, it's every 99 days (bit over 3 months), and of course it has to check with the server every once and a while, it's to make sure you haven't cancelled the subscription early

Also, there's no point in arguing, I've made up my mind, I'm not going to put with software bills, I don't even use credit. I've already got fucking bills, I don't want more.
But I have to admit, I do get mad when I people see they have CC, but I suppose I have to accept that others want to sell freedom for convenience, it's their choice.
If you're paying every year, it's every 99 days (bit over 3 months), and of course it has to check with the server every once and a while, it's to make sure you haven't cancelled the subscription early
Why would I allow that? I'd rather for $1000 outright and crack it than let it connect to servers every month, I can block CS6 from the net and it works. Why not pay $1000 and have it not check, 1 activation and you're off. It just gives the company more control over the software.
At this point I'm purely arguing to prevent getting depressed over this.
So, didn't have drive caddies for the two scsis, but I installed them anyway by wedging cardboard between them and laying the server over so the drives lay flat.
I've got RAID1 set up, dad said RAID 10 was pretty useless for what we're doing with the server, so I'm just leaving that out.
Drives are in, they work, computer only sees one drive, cool.
But now i can't get the damn thing to boot from CD. Its got a CD drive, it acknowledges the drive's presence and bitches when its not there, my CD is bootable, but it just won't boot from CD.
It has a floppy though, and I may end up booting from floppy until I can get it to boot from CD. Haven't tried from USB yet but I'm not expecting that capability. It also has network boot though, but I've never played with netboot so I have no idea what I'm doing or what I can do with it.
[editline]19th March 2014[/editline]
Any ideas?
What sort of server is that, model?
Why do I use adblock:

Some sites seem to not understand when there's too much ads.
Have another german exam this morning, and unless I start doing exceptional, I'm going to fail.
I remember trying to find a working Win7 iso
Every time I downloaded, burnt and installed it I got a different problem
Attempt 1: Wouldn't install
Attempt 2: Installed, then asked for a nonexistent password and wouldn't log in
Attempt 3: Installed, booted, then would just run horribly slow (Took 5 minutes for the taskbar to appear, froze trying to open it)
I can't tell if it's the hard drive, the disk drive, the burner, the DVD, or the ISO fucking up
Well I've never had any issues with installing Windows 7. Although I did upgrade it from Vista on a laptop so you could try getting Vista on it, and then Windows 7.

Adobe stuff is pretty much industry standard tools such as Photoshop, Lightroom and some others.

You can still pick up CS6 keys online.

You sound like you should be entitled to a service that you stopped paying for. A.k.a. bitching that your Internet doesn't work and your ISP is an asshole because you didn't pay your monthly Internet bills.

Dell PowerEdge 2800
Also, on my first visit there was a full-page ad which I had to close before seeing the front page.

Or in the case of Wikia, multiple invisible autoplaying video ads going off at once in every tab
Makes it absolute shit when you need to check something on a game wiki with the ingame overlay
How is it annoying? It seemed stupid at first but it's a vastly better deal. It's cheaper and instead of getting new features every rehash and having to pay for them, you get them with normal updates as well. And lock in? How the fuck is it lock in, you can cancel 100% at any time with no repercussion other than a lack of access to the services, and saying Adobe's dead for a SUPERIOR business model? You're out of your mind.
you said you can cancel any time without issues. the $50/month plan is a yearly "contract" while $75/month is the one you can cancel anytime. which mean in order to cancel anytime, you would need the more expensive $75/month plan.

You're kinda assuming shit here. I never said anything about the difference between the $50 and $75 plan, you can still cancel at any time, just have to go with the more expensive but still cheaper than CS6 plan.

Either way, yes you can cancel anytime*

750 ti
gtx660 or 750 ti
The 750 Ti has better power usage and slightly better compute (But who gives a shit if you're buying it for games), but 660 outperforms in game framerate absolutely every time.
