DirectX 12 at GDC today.
Is there going to be a stream somewhere or, I haven't kept up with GDC stuff at all.
I hope I can watch it on a stream live, I'll probably have to stop after 15 minutes so I can breathe after laughing at them too hard.

I'm using a boot floppy because I can't boot from CD normally for whatever reason, and I don't think this thing can boot from USB, and I don't even know how to begin with PXE network booting. Still though, chill out.

Nvidia has confirmed that the DX12 API will work on all NVIDIA DX11 GPUs, Fuck yeah.
most likely win 8 or 9 exclusive though.
Unless the take rate of win 8 goes up to "50% of all gamers" I think they might finally loosen up.

I'm trying to batterypower my Behringer MIC100. For the longest time I thought the included powersupply did 9V 1.3A. Ok ok. So I put together 6x 9v batteries in parrallel for extra amperage. Then I thought, maybe since it's a tube it needs much more amps for the warmup. So I put 6x D cells together.
Then I re-read the adapter and it says AC...
So fuck, glad I didn't spend the money on a bunch of batteries. Anything I can do. I wonder if I can mod it some how. Because to make the MIC100 portable, I'd have to have AC power. Or simply get something that sports a 9v battery part anyways.
I honestly don't mind if I have to upgrade OS to get DX12, always wanted to have a go at Windows 8 with the IT equivalent of a hacksaw.

I looked it up - IT'S THREE HUNDRED FUCKING MILES AWAY. Even if I *WAS* inclined to do the cops' job for them, which I'm NOT, but what could I do even if I wanted to? Stare out the window looking for some vague car description and a license plate? A car that probably couldn't even get over here without having to stop for gas?
Not to mention that the phone the alert played on has its emergency sound set to OFF. Not vibrate, OFF. If it wasn't the on-call phone I'd have thrown it out the window once I realized the blaring siren noise was just some bullshit notification that isn't a danger to me and I can't do jack shit about. Hell, it's just more security theater, except it gets to play into the vigilante fantasies most Americans have so nobody seems to talk about how bullshit it all is.
On the bright side, my personal phone properly ignored the alert as I told it to. I must remember to make sure that any replacement does the same.
