Happend on my Gnex too which already has bad battery, but with the play service its gets 2x worse.
Weird thing was also i could switch to as many roms and do a fresh install , it always came back one of the reason i switched to windows phone 8.

Well I'm a half heavy tablet user, and I used to hog the iPad and that lasts almost 3 days of heavy use.
Then again, no active pen support on the iPad makes me feel that it isn't worth buying. So I needed the Note 8 for that.

You do realise Google Play Services has handled just about everything going on with the system since ICS was released, right
It's basically a combination of most Google APIs and an update channel for them. Presumably anything using location services, for instance, would add to the battery consumption of Play Services
SSD arrived, threw the HDD into my old laptop and booted it, I fucking love Linux.
Sure, my window manager is claiming there's no WiFi, no battery and it can't read CPU temperatures, because the settings are made for a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge, and I'm running it in an old HP laptop, but at least it boots, and works.
Have to do a weird live-transfer of sorts to get my installation moved over to my SSD.

I know that but for some reason it bugs itself and runs in the background even though you are not using any apps that are using the Google Play Service.

-any geofencing you might be doing
-google now location features
-authentication with google servers
-chromecasts
I'm surprised geofencing isn't being used more in Android apps, just the concept gives me a semi.

Pentium can be needlessly mean just like the rest of us. But most of us don't like seeing someone waste money, and the performance/dollar ratio of that hardware can't compare to even modern mid-low range hardware. Save up, and an i3, decent mobo, 8gb ram, 650 Ti would blow his mind.
Besides 4 way 7950GX2's? He'll burn his small savings away in power.
