i have a £1000 budget and I want a relatively small laptop, no larger than 15", and 13" is portable. finance must be available as well.. but where I've been looking, i can't see anything that good?
also, is 1366x768 that shitty? i've kinda only been looking at FULLHD shit.

Yes 1366x768 is [I]that[/I] bad. It should not exist on [I]any[/I] laptop above 11.6inch, let alone a £1000 machine.
As for what machine, I have a Vaio Pro and absolutely adore it, it has a few very minor complaints, such as Wifi range/speed can be a little under other machines, you can't adjust the backlit keyboard brightness (it's either on or off), and there's no DisplayPort (but that's pretty rare and not a big deal if you aren't going to be running anything greater than 2560x1440 off it.
There's also the lack of a LAN port, which is a big deal if you intend to use it, it's less of a deal on macs because the thunderbolt adapter is better than USB3 ones.
Aside from that, it is a great machine, the screen is amazing, don't have any build quality complaints, and I still haven't lost the wow factor from the weight and slimness.

My advice with ultrabook is go full or go home.
A friend bought a fairly cheap (£500 I think it was) Fujutsu Lifebook, and it had poor battery life, worse build quality, a shitty trackpad and keyboard, 1366x768, and it really wasn't that light.
I'll show you what I'm gonna be getting in the next two days or so, I'll post back, but here are the two options, what'd you think:

Please for the love of god don't self host video, it is a horrible idea. People don't seem to understand why someone doesn't just pop up and kill youtube? I'll tell you why. No one has the fucking resources. High bandwidth content is extremely costly to host without fucking over some country. Vimeo for example. It's fucking horrendous and HD is plain [b]UNUSUABLE[/B] without major buffering times if you're outside of US and Europe.
Suck it up and use Youtube. Hosting anything yourself is screwing with people outside of your VPS' geographic region if they actually want to watch your video.

You can't even upload/view anything higher than 720p without the premium thingy
Although I've never ran into issues with video streaming in HD..
