I urge you to look at Akamai's state of the Internet. 10Mbps is nowhere near common.
We can't hold things back just because the internet sucks in some places...
We can't hold things back just because the internet sucks in some places...
No. Not some places. I'm talking worldwide. I'm talking average Internet connection.
We can't hold things back just because the internet sucks in some places...
10Mbps up or down? Over here the fast down is 100Mbps, but the fastest up is 2Mbps, you can't even host a TF2 server with that. I get 6Mbps down and 512kbps up.
I get 6Mbps down and 512kbps up.
How horribly unbalanced. I hate connections that are unbalanced like that. Why should it take longer to get something than send something? gah.

With most home connection methods, DOCSIS, ADSL, etc, they're inherently larger download than upload. So part of it's a technical issue, but with stuff like, say, Fibre, ISP's do it to tier our business customers and home customers. Eg, in their minds, "Those that will use it" and "They'll be fine without it".
In norway i have 65 mbit up and down and no cap , no up to speed bs.
which ISP?
I could get 76 m/b down but my Dad says it too expensive and I doubt we will get a price drop any time soon considering how recent the fibre investment by BT is.
We'd be getting some nice speeds except for the fact that a dickhead politician called Malcolm Turnbull decided overcrowding the 4G networks was a better solution than Fibre. Personally I think he should be permanently removed from parliament and sent to jail for 2 years.
which ISP?
Altibox from Hadeland and Ringerike Bredbånd.

Turnbull is a complete moron. I mean just... this...

Hey, Turnbull it's your fucking job description to make sure people get the best CONNECTIVITY POSSIBLE. That's everywhere, not wherever broadband is available. Twat.
I feel like you would rather move for FTTP. Or somewhere where you're not being royally screwed by shitty governments.
I can accept moving from ADSL to Fiber. But having nothing at all and being told to move for basic levels of connectivity? Ludicrous.
The new Device from ISP is sucking balls.
You can only configure it trough the control panel of the ISP. AKA they know your password and everything.
I'll pick up some rad router next week, and replace it. I'm too paranoid to let my ISP have potential access to my local network and passwords.
Especially since so many shitty businesses can't secure the customers passwords.

The router from Altibox is shitty as well, you can only connect 1 pc the rest of the 3 remaining ethernet ports are for TV because everyone has 3 TV's with internet connection in their household right?
So i picked up an ASUS n65u, really like the way asus made the UI and everthing.

Ain't got nothing on my school
So, us networking students have some of our own services for accessing Cisco stuff, getting time in the lab and equipment. You go in, find the time, and write username and password. Simple enough
So me and a classmate was sitting next to each other to book some time and i mistypes my password. I don't notice straight away because i looked to another pc since the system was a bit slow. When i turn back i see that i mistype and that it rejected it. Oh, and it also posted my username and password (which is my pretty damn secure password too) in plaintext in the error message. Like, not in a string of shit, but Usrn= [me], Passwd= [stuff]
So, my pass was showing in plain for maybe 10 to 15 secs. Luckily my friend told me, and i doubt that he remembered it (or tried) but damn
Any MacBook users here that know any windows drivers that don't suck absolute balls? A friend of mine runs windows on his MacBook and it's hilariously bad. The SD card reader barely works, the touchpad is absolutely horrendous, if you press the F shortcut buttons too fast the program in charge of doing the shortcuts "misses" the key presses and they are registered as F key presses instead of the shortcuts (So sometimes when lowering the brightness, you get the help page for whatever program you're using instead, for instance)
And the most annoying problem: When plugging in headphones, the sound just disappears from the speakers and nothing in the headphones either. If you put the computer to sleep and wake it again, suddenly it works.
Do good windows drivers for macbooks not exist?
I'd really like to get a new router for my Birthday next week but I'm already asking for a £95 internal Hard Drive and it is another good £100 for what I want (Asus rt-n66). I can't really afford to take out the Hard Drive (I'm running out of space on my PC) but my current router is shit that can't even hold a connection for the length of a single morning.
I'll show you what I'm gonna be getting in the next two days or so, I'll post back, but here are the two options, what'd you think:

Or

?
I think the second one is the one you possibly have?
Yes the second one is the one I have. It really depends how much you value the ethernet port. If you're hardly going to use it then the VAIO is the better of the machines.
holy shit I need to stop having porn open on my phone when I leave my house to go out in public
I'll completely forget about it and then unlock my phone and holy fucking shit closecloseclose
My PC wouldn't turn on despite everything is plugged in and switched on.
Honestly my PC is becoming a piece of shit, I only had it for a year and it's already falling apart.
really don't understand the mentality of some people in games like Titanfall, CoD or BF
at the start of the round its the usual "gl hf". then they begin whining out in the match over how bullshit something is, and if they lose they'll get pissed at their team and say its their fault. if they win, "hah so easy".
pls

If your spit sizzles on it, its too hot.
BUt seriously if you don't care if that machine dies, totally try to fry a piece of bacon on it.
Sorry, NVIDIA and AMD were misleading about dx12.
You WILL need a new GPU for dx12
http://www.hardware-360.com/directx-12-requires-new-graphics-cards-to-utilize-all-features/
Dammit, and I was planning to build a new computer soon.
Anybody know when GM110 comes out? I can probably upgrade everything else but keep my trusty 6870 until I can upgrade to a DX12 card.

Unfortunately I'm paid to care.
It's funnier still because that's after reapplying thermal paste/ the CPU fan spinning at 7K RPM.
I have $4.5million waiting for me and all I need to do is send him $150 to cover the transfer costs.
Nigerians are so generous :v:
Will DX12 even be a big step up from 11? I just bought a 780 and I don't plan to upgrade for years.
