Valve is probably pissed they gave all that VR development to Oculus for free and now it's going straight to one of their competitors.
Why exactly is Facebook, a social media company, considered as a competitor of Valve, a digital delivery and video game company?
Valve is probably pissed they gave all that VR development to Oculus for free and now it's going straight to one of their competitors.
how is facebook a valve competitor
how is facebook a valve competitor
Farmville must be killing off CS:GO
farmville [editline]25th March 2014[/editline] god dang it
how is facebook a valve competitor
Well, they both run ubiquitous, ambiguously-evil online services, spend a lot of time and money building new technologies but pretty much live off that old online service since they haven't done much of note in the past few years. But Valve made Half-Life, while Facebook made... nothing besides Facebook, so Valve gets to be the good guys.
steam is evil? I mean I get that its bloated and needs a trim/new features but hey I've saved tons of money on games and have them all tied to one central account, and they make (or used to make) good games.
got a dead/broken apple cinema display and repairs were going to be anywhere from $125 to $200, guy checks the serial key, there were two months left in the warranty free repairs and a free replacement if they can't fix it score
wow nice also those displays are nice
Just woke up, and read what all the fuss is about. Welp time to go to bed again and wake up from this nightmare. I guess I don't need an oculus rift anyway.

And they can keep up their good reputation by offering sales and throwing a good game together without giving a shit about deadlines or budget because they're getting a cut of a good chunk of PC game sales. They're probably rotting in money, so they don't need to do all the shit that other companies do to stay afloat that is widely regarded as "evil business practices" (and yet they still manage to be incompetent with their customer support, store quality assurance, client, etc)

Right now they're content simply to sell games and make money by selling games. But there is the potential for much misuse - what happens when they start putting ads in it? Or start revoking games after you've bought them? And let's not forget how much private information they have. Really, the only thing that separates Origin and Steam is that EA is known to be evil, while Valve is not yet evil. But Google was once a good company as well, and look at them now.

I like it actually since fuck windows messenger and everyone having their own tedious chat client and all the boatshit that comes with it. I don't really care all that much for the friend/activity stream at all since literally no one uses it, the DRM is fine with me since its not intrusive in any way (looking at you Ubisoft and EA), and Steam fixed their offline mode. Digital only is sort of fine with me since I don't really care for having all these boxes with just cd's and instruction manuals/installation instructions in them doing nothing but taking up space (I've already digitized my entire movie/tv library since fuck having shitloads of cases for that), and cd's will eventually just wear out and stop working. When/If Steam ever goes out of business they said they'll unlock the protection on all their games and let users download them to have them all locally so I'll do that and religiously back it up. Monopolizing isn't a big deal for me at all since they offer good prices and I think they're a fairly positive company and I hate having my shit spread out across platforms (looking at you Battlefield 3 on Origin and Far Cry 3 on Uplay, seriously fuck having to adjust to an entire client just to play one game with an added layer of annoying DRM). Etcetera is a vague term because you can't really think of anything else to say

Steam fits me as a person almost perfectly and does almost exactly what I want Facebook on the other hand is shit, through and through
Woo~ This is what all that bitching and moaning about Premiere assembled into. I think it worked well enough. [/shameless_plug]
why
so you were bitching about premiere for a week to do what literally just put video files together and add annotations wouldn't it have been easier to use a linear tape editor (which you must have cause it's obsolete)
so you were bitching about premiere for a week to do what literally just put video files together and add annotations wouldn't it have been easier to use a linear tape editor (which you must have cause it's obsolete)
My umatic deck needs new belts. Also, it's less lossy to directly digitize and edit in premiere.
Hold on let me just plug my TV into the fucking tap. [t]http://puu.sh/7Jjdf.jpg[/t]

Yeah, I'm picking up the R7 260X tomorrow and the power supply already arrived. Tomorrow is gonna be a fun day.
update on this, didn't get the R7 260X after all since the seller suddenly came back into existence. but I can get an open box HD 7790 from Frys, this card should be ok on a 430 watt psu right?
Would it be a stretch to ask one of you guys to edit a one page essay for me? I'm trying to score a job at the robotics lab at one of the local universities, and I'm paranoid about it sounding shitty.
Wouldn't shipping be a million dollars?
Think I could fit a few more on? [t]http://i.imgur.com/inM2ESF.jpg[/t]

I'm probably really late, but Powershell is really fucking cool. My windows server teacher assigned a free course on microsoft's site and most people skipped over it because it was going to take a while to go through the videos, though I'm really liking what it can do. Maybe it's just me drinking the microsoft koolaid, but it's kinda blowing my mind that one short command can login to a few different machines, grab new event log messages and spit them out to a nice HTML document. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/training-courses/getting-started-with-powershell-3-0-jump-start
Think I could fit a few more on? [t]http://i.imgur.com/inM2ESF.jpg[/t]
Your laptop is just screaming neckbeard to everyone that sees it.
More importantly I don't know why anyone would fuck over the resale value of a laptop by putting hard as hell to remove stickers on it.
More importantly I don't know why anyone would fuck over the resale value of a laptop by putting hard as hell to remove stickers on it.
Never seen hard to remove stickers on soft/hard plastic before. Just rip em out and give the thing a few swipes with rubbing alcohol or something.

When I got my T400, it was covered in adhesive shit left over from all the velcro strips. GooGone is really good for getting it off. Leave it on the sticky shit for a couple minutes and it comes right off, the couple IT departments that I've seen always have some laying around.
