Well, I intend to find out tomorrow morning because it's 3AM, but it transplanted from the VM in my desktop to my moderately high-spec laptop fine, so I'm assuming it'll be right at home with my roommate's Macbook Pro. He was looking for a Win8.1 installation that he could leave on his desk to save some space on his internal hard disk, but it turned out to be trickier than expected because 8.1 encrypts the installation file for whatever godawful reason.
Just a heads up I tried to boot W7 off a FireWire drive on my MacBook Pro a couple years ago and it wouldn't. The drive had a copy of OSX 10.6 that I used for diagnostics on one partition which worked fine, and a clone of the W7 partition that was on the laptop, but it wouldn't boot from the external drive.
I keep getting folders like this on my HDD. WTF?
The CIA uses your computer as a place to store encrypted files. Kinda like their own dropbox, but you aren't allowed to moderate it.
Looks like the folders Steam uses when downloading games - where are they/what's inside of them?
Nothing. Completely empty. They are on the root of the drive too.

Ok so I Ubuntu works on the NUC, there are a few issues though, Ubuntu is too slow it won't run well with steam in home streaming or youtube at 1080p and something is stopping it from being able to access the files on the Windows machines.
got myself a third screen, just to realize that my gpu doesn't support it :suicide:
Same thing, but it happened to me with a second screen after a GPU upgrade. DVI-I and DVI-D ain't the same thing, dammn. My HD4650 had both DVI-I ports, but both my screens are VGA. New GPU has DVI-I, DVI-D, DP and HDMI ports. So I plugged one screen into my IGP, HD4000. Works well. Friend also did the same thing.
got myself a third screen, just to realize that my gpu doesn't support it :suicide:
What GPU have you got?
gtx 570
You can get a 760 or 660 pretty cheaply and if you want, you can also get another 570 secondhand for a decent price.

Update on the Win8.1 Live USB: It boots off of different computers (although has to spend 2-3 minutes finding drivers)! Woo.
I wish I could get a modmic here in the UK, they look so nice. I also wish I didn't already have a headset too.
I got a cheap external mic of Ebay about a year ago, still works fine. Probably wouldn't use it for recording though considering how cheap it is but its fine for online games. Doesn't seem to pick up feedback from my speakers either.
When I'm not using my headset, I'm using this ~18 year old Compaq microphone. Yes. Compaq. Before they became HP Compaq. :v:
Update on the Win8.1 Live USB: It boots off of different computers (although has to spend 2-3 minutes finding drivers)! Woo.
Did you build it using Windows-To-Go?
Did you build it using Windows-To-Go?
Somewhat, the basic steps were: 1. Install Windows 8.1 to a Virtualbox VM until you manage to get to the desktop 2. Mount the .vhd file using these utilities 3. Follow this guide to make a .wim file of the installation from the mounted .vhd file (windows 8.1's installer by default uses an encrypted .esd instead of a .wim) 4. Use Aomei Partition Manager to install the .wim file to an external NTFS hard drive 5. Boot from the drive and create new user account on new computer, delete old one But instead of the Enterprise Windows-To-Go it runs Windows 8.1 Pro.
I finally started to watch the new season of Arrested Development and oh my god, the actors are fine, the time difference actor wise makes no difference, the fucking writers are the problem. They throw in like pointless racism and vulgarity which is completely different from the tone of the show. It's like they are using netflix as an excuse to do the strong "jokes" that they wanted to on other shows.
Season 5?
Season 5?
Galaxy Swhatever [editline]29th March 2014[/editline] oh wait you're actually talking about TV shows
