This is genuinely the funniest conversation I've had on Reddit, ever: http://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/21t43h/changing_the_pc_market_place/cggn7rb This guy just keeps on going, and going, and going, and going, and there's no holes in his tinfoil hat.
:tinfoil: Hardware manufacturers, man
Just take the next 25 years of development, and do it right now It's so fucking simple jesus christ guys
Just told him he should do a start-up, I'll laugh if next year I read an article about a failed hardware start-up that tried to glue a stack of Titans together in order to build the most powerful GPU that somehow still fits into a computer without any problems, and costs next to nothing.
I thought it was just slow to open in 8 and they fixed it in 8.1.
I thought it was quick in 8, but maybe I just don't remember it being slow. :v:
I thought it was quick in 8, but maybe I just don't remember it being slow. :v:
I distinctly remember one of the key features of Windows 8.1 to be a task manager that didn't suck at opening.
Then again, you're using Netscape on Windows 98, so your memory might be failing you, grandpa.
I distinctly remember one of the key features of Windows 8.1 to be a task manager that didn't suck at opening.
It got better for sure, but i just counted and for me it took 5 seconds. If i remember correct it was around a second on Win7

Out of curiosity, I'm not sure if its because of the drive or what, but I noticed that my Pentium II machine reports its drive as exactly 40,000,000,000 bytes (it is a 40 GB drive after all). The BIOS can't figure out the cylinder or head count, but it does know the drive size, and as far as I can tell the drive works fine. Then in Arch fdisk will see the exact 40 GB number, but it can only partition 37.9 GB. Even with the 1024 vs 1000 thing, that's still an entire GB missing. Why would the BIOS report it having that much when it apparently doesn't? And why the exact number? Is it just that its a ancient BIOS and a 40 GB drive would be enormous for its time (1998-ish)?
The time it takes my task manager to load has always been as long as it takes it to "animate" - the issue for me is always when a fullscreen app blocks mouse input to the task manager making it almost impossible to kill the app.
Half a second for me.
Might be on my end then. I think i need a OS reinstall soon anyway. I'm starting to get odd issues at times. Also that fresh OS feel...
I'm on an SSD, are you?
6 year old Western Digital HDD Although i'v seen it load up faster on 7 year old crappy laptops with Win7
I am an SSD. Anywho, when I hit F1 in autocad, a few things happen. 1. an error box shows up with 'Failed to launch help' 2. windows help shows up with "Why can't I get help from this program?" 3. Autocad help shows up with the documentation I was originally looking for. why.
6 year old Western Digital HDD Although i'v seen it load up faster on 7 year old crappy laptops with Win7
That aren't installed with a shitload of programs right?
That aren't installed with a shitload of programs right?
Not really, i keep that drive kinda clean
I'm running a 14 year old 120GB hitachi drive as my primary. Might explain some of the sluggish performance at times. Might also be time for an upgrade. But then I have to re-install windows. what a chore.
Alright, i try to keep it clean. That's one reason i might just reinstall the OS, to clean out forgotten files and other crap slowpunch destroyed my automerge, noo
Use CCleaner to find invalid registry entries. Those can slow Windows down a bit.
Whenever I run it, it cleans up unassigned file extensions, so I get a lot of entries for stuff like .notanextension, .backup, .thisisareallylongfileextension, .cuuuunt, .asdf
My Note 3 just got updated to KitKat, neat.
Watch old Disney movies the way they were intended. In horribly low resolution with poor image quality and terrible sound.
If you really want to watch old Disney movies the way they were originally intended, get the movies on Laserdisc. More often than not, it's the highest quality version without the digital editing in DVD/BD versions.
My Note 3 just got updated to KitKat, neat.
I'm still rocking Jelly Bean on my Note 1. Any major reasons to upgrade?
I only watch Disney movies by viewing each hand painted frame in person
I only watch Disney movies by viewing each hand painted frame in person
Who watches them? I read the original scripts written by Disney himself!
Who watches them? I read the original scripts written by Disney himself!
Lol, what a scrub. I go listen to Disney tell the stories himself.
Lol, what a scrub. I go listen to Disney tell the stories himself.
Psh, weak. I hold a seance and get Walt Disney to tell me the script through a Ouija board.
Lol, what a scrub. I go listen to Disney tell the stories himself.
Wow that must be pretty cool
Lol, what a scrub. I go listen to Disney tell the stories himself.
Scrub, i AM Walt Disney
Anyone Talking about more than 10,000 mAh and actually using the milli SI-prefix needs to stop. Like seriously, It's 100 Ah, like seriously, why would you use a prefix to make numbers larger? I get that you do it for a 1,500 mAh battery, because phones did it a long time, but jesus, there has to be an end to this.
