I did a release upgrade on my VPS, so the IRC server was restarted.
Man, I should have started using Docker ages ago, this is fucking brilliant. You guys need to give Docker a try.
Have you guys seen Blackmagic's latest camera :v: : What the fuck.

They're going for the live broadcast TV market. Which makes sense, it's just a fucking weird form.
We're still really only on the "Fuck Titties" version...?
God now Autodesk are moving to subscription only. I swear I'm going to have to kill myself if this is the way all software is going. I could try to argue about why this is a bad thing but no one agrees that ownership of a product is important. There are almost no words, I could spout some retarded raging hate speech, but there's no point. According to all of you I'm wrong. Could not be more angry right now. :suicide:
Threads don't seem to auto lock anymore. For now anyways.
And 3ds max is still ridiculously overpriced :v:
Like that will ever change.
And 3ds max is still ridiculously overpriced :v:
The argument is that not that they shouldn't have subscriptions, more that they should have perpetual licences and subscriptions. I'm not someone who really cares about the latest version of stuff, I'm someone who want's to own things out right. I'd rather take out a loan and buy something so I can keep it. I hate the idea of renting things. It's useful in some circumstances, but on a more long term basis I don't like it. It's why I'm saving for a deposit instead of moving out and renting. I think I'm a control freak.

could always just save up $2000, pretend you pay full price but instead just toss it into another account and set the subscription up against that. it's cheaper even!
technically speaking you'd never own the license anyways the way i see it, if i'm paying for it continuously, they're more likely to try and keep me on, because of all the futuremoney i could give them
The future is worrying to me, more than likely at some point in the future I won't have the cash to pay for the subscription software, when a few years earlier I could have paid for the software outright. I mean look at my posts, my future is fucked. [editline]8th April 2014[/editline]
It's such a weird but awesome camera. They're going for the live broadcast TV market. But in seriousness, most people would rather Blackmagic fix the issues with their currently product line than see 2 new cameras which looks as though they'll take another year to produce. I still think this camera is pretty fucking cool: For those of you who think it's expensive, for 4K@60FPS RAW with XLR ports, it's really not.
Finally came around patching Openssl aswell. First the password leak at my mail provider, and now this. The gods are not pleased with my lack of paranoia.
https://braxnet.org/ass.php yeah there are actually quite a few people who tries to log in to my server
I just set fail2ban to block IPs for a week after 3 failed attempts. Then I blocked myself 15 minutes later because of capslock. :v:
Haha the look on the guys face, when I gave him the task to "Install gentoo" on a machine. It was like joyful, because "hurr install gentoo meme", and then you saw the sudden realization on his face when I handed him the Gentoo installation manual. [editline]8th April 2014[/editline] I never get tired of this job.
happened to me too once while testing it, only that I had set it to permanent... :v:
I once accidentally issued "sudo init 0" on my dedicated server, and I had to call the datacenter maintenance guy in the middle of the night to start my Server again.
Pepper;44477972']http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Defender for one. try again.
We gonna play this game rly,,,
Macs are in no way safe from viruses. Just as GNU/Linux is not safe from viruses.
I'm still struggling to find antivirus for anything Linux, I tried BitDefender but it didn't do anything other than hang.
I'm still struggling to find antivirus for anything Linux, I tried BitDefender but it didn't do anything other than hang.
On GNU/Linux it's more the fact that you should not run random commands/scripts from the internet.
On GNU/Linux it's more the fact that you should not run random commands/scripts from the internet.
I'd still need to use antivirus at some point. Again I suppose it's like Windows and MSE. Common sense. Unless it's driveby.
Basically When you want to install the "Ruby version manager", the website tells you to execute this command:
\curl -sSL https://get.rvm.io | bash -s stable
With this, you download a File and execute without looking at it. Someone could have made a MITM attack, and replaced the content of the script with something malicious. Thats the biggest security problem with Linux. Random idiots just execute commands they see on a website, and hope that it fixes their problem. If a website tells you to execute a command like this:
\curl -sSL https://get.rvm.io | bash -s stable
Then just download the file itself, open it in a text editor to verify nothing bad is in the script, and then you can execute it. In order to stop most drive-by's it's best to disable any Flash/Java plugin in a webbrowser. Adblocking does also help, and if you're paranoid you can install Addons like Requestpolicy and NoScript for Firefox.
Who the fuck thought autoplay Facebook videos was a good idea, can't turn it off completely
Going into settings > videos stops them completely for me.
Going into settings > videos stops them completely for me.
Not on Android, you can only set it to wifi
