and now you have reminded me that I need to find a new job all last month, and this month so far, I sat on my butt playing video games and fixing the occasional neighbor's computer
I like my job. I like looking after the servers like they are my own children. "Come here lil RM1-SRV2 Server, Daww you look so cute in your tiny case~"
What the hell, I come in here in the morning and I see someone treating their computers like children. It'll haunt me for the rest of my life.
What the hell, I come in here in the morning and I see someone treating their computers like children. It'll haunt me for the rest of my life.
don't you treat yours like children?
What the hell, I come in here in the morning and I see someone treating their computers like children. It'll haunt me for the rest of my life.
Treating Servers like they are your own children is a requirement to be accepted into the position of a Sysadmin. Failure to treat Servers like they are your own flesh and blood results in a lack of passion for said server, resulting in bad things happening. Servers are like children, they have needs and you need to carefully look after them. Always clean and archive the logs, and make sure everything is up and running. A Happy Server is a good server.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has bought upgrades for a computer after it has passed another year of existing
don't you treat yours like children?
I don't coo at them if that's what you're saying. But I do take care of my systems though, not Al Pacino but more along the lines of Julie Andrews.
I really don't mind my galaxy S3 personally, I have installed cyanogenmod on it though. I do like having a removable battery and a SD slot.
Yeah, I hate how my N5 doesn't have an SD card slot. I have only used like 50% of the internal storage, but it's still annoying.
You have to treat your computers as YOUR children, not like a daycare centers children.
I installed tracking software on my laptop. Does that make me an overprotective parent?
I installed tracking software on my laptop. Does that make me an overprotective parent?
Yes. Give it some privacy, jesus.
I installed tracking software on my laptop. Does that make me an overprotective parent?
I bet you look at your laptops internals too, you pig
I dunno about you guys but my computer has seen some jpegs I probably wouldn't expose children to.
Did Samsung go seriously downhill or something? My S3 is great. Stock Firmware too, I have no reason to change it.
Yeah, I hate how my N5 doesn't have an SD card slot. I have only used like 50% of the internal storage, but it's still annoying.
Well thats why I like the G2, its a beefier Nexus 5, for all intents and purposes, larger battery, screen and internal storage
I think recording video on a GH4 is a whole different level than to what it is on your 60D (Which is very similar to my 600D when doing video). To be honest, recording video on my 600D has always felt like a hacked-together experience. Sure it works, but the sound is horrible, there's a 4GB limit, there's a small chance it might just feel like stopping your recording due to a filled up buffer which makes it unreliable (No matter how fast your card is), and you can't do 1080p60 which all "real" video cameras have been doing forever. Even using a small video camera like my Sony CX280 feels much better and polished in a way that I think the GH4 also will.
I gotta play with the GH4 sometime...
Anyone else using the Full YouTube Options extension and getting this bullshit?
: Welcome to YouTube Options This extension is based on a paid subscription model. It costs a flat fee of $1.99 per month, with half of all proceeds going to non-profit organizations. Why the monthly fee? YTO is a fully supported, ever-evolving product and half of the subscription fee goes toward sustaining the level of effort needed to develop quality software. But we’re not just trying to make our product better — we’re trying to make the world better, too. The other half of the subscription fee is donated to causes we believe in. Visit the SPOI site to learn about the charities we are supporting this year. For more information on the ways you can customize your YouTube experience, explore the options here, or get the full list of more than 120 configuration options on the YouTube Options site. Until you purchase a subscription license using PayPal, YouTube Option’s functionality will be disabled.
[editline]10th April 2014[/editline] On that note, anyone know of any good replacements for it? Fuck paying $2/month for a fucking extension.

"Chromosomal Comrade?" That sounds a little weird, Lenovo. :pwn:
My Sandisk SSD makes a slight rattling sound when you move it, although it's almost unnoticeable. Should I be worried?
Hey guys, I need a bit of help. I am tasked with putting together the rig I need for the shop I work at to do video work, autocad, and sound design. I'm going for 32gb of ram, a i7-4930k, but I'm at a loss at what to do for hard drives. I will be doing a ton of videowork, and I know Brt you do a lot, what kind of space usage should I expect to need to accommodate? I have little experience in editing, but I'd be working with youtube content, and producing quite a number of videos at 5-10 minutes in length.
As far as audio work goes, the computing power has far exceeded the needs of even the most insane editing requirements. Unless you're mixing orchestras with ridiculous softsynths at 192khz sample rate even a pokey i3 can pull its weight. Just make sure you get a decent audio interface with solid drivers, my recommendation would be a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I don't edit a whole lot of video these days so I can't comment on that.
Should I pick up another 6950 for $100 and CF or sell mine for around that and buy a newer single GPU?
better single gpu
turns out att never canceled our order... oh well!
I'm trading/selling my GH3 for GH4 when it comes out. It solves all the issues I had with the GH3, it does 4:2:2 out of the HDMI, has much better antialiasing, even less rolling shutter, Zebra bars and Timecode and it has 4K which could be great for doing the CSI zoom effect. It's ahead of anything Canon has in the price range but Sony just announced a competitor: You can use it with the new Atomos Shogun recorder and get RAW 4K: http://www.atomos.com/shogun/
the a7 is a very nice camera in general. solid as a brick, well built and very functional saving for one atm
the a7 is a very nice camera in general. solid as a brick, well built and very functional saving for one atm
I swear by Sony cameras. I'm gonna be getting one when I get enough money. My buddy's got an a57 and it rules hardcore. I love my little Pentax but it takes a few shots to get one that doesn't have even fractional amounts of blur.
