And she tells you to buy each and every one of us in this thread something.
man it'd be neat if someone designed a motherboard with a bunch of slots like the ones old processors used, but for hard drives. I know that there would be problems with vibrations, but the concept of a fully modular yet fully cable-less PC is interesting.
Like that razer tower of power thing, but not ugly and awfully proprietary.
You can get PCI-E ssds. I have one it's very fast
Implying the Surface is the only good Windows tablet

You got the ASUS T100 which even comes with a keyboard or the cheaper Encore tablet that is 8" and doesnt come with a keyboard.
Problem is the Surface Pro shoves an i5 into tablet formfactor and is actually usable for more intensive stuff that an Atom would just melt over, which is what I want it for (otherwise I'd just buy a Nexus 7)
Wingless, tell him to buy computer parts too.
2500 posts, ohh yeah
I think Im dangerously close to my next posting milestone, whatever that is.

eh, 7k isnt that special, nevermind.
So i found something interesting today, when i was replacing the DC jack on a dell mini 10, i discovered that the entire computer was on this.

It uses a SODIMM slot for pretty much everything.
The "motherboard" is pretty much just a breakout board.
She told me to buy it.
Hold on, that thing is fucking amazing.
She told you to buy me a gpu of my choice because my 210 is crap
Hold on, that thing is fucking amazing.
I'd say it works pretty fucking well for being inside of a lighter
If I smoked I'd buy it. It's a Zippo with a camera.
Wtf Spotify, you have Puscifer, but you don't have Tool?

I did. It's slowly working. We already worked out what he wants to get (Good i7, can't remember graphics, good 32GB(?) of RAM, ton of storage, etc.)
Just need money.

I have one in a car key fob thing. I used it to make a timelapse of a LAN party once. Works too well.
I had one of these about 10 years ago (maybe even more), I kinda want another just for nostalgia even though the photo quality is beyond terrible.

I remember those.
Why did I want one when I was little?
Oddly enough you can get an HD video camera on eBay that takes videos for acceptable quality for that price and size nowadays
Wtf Spotify, you have Puscifer, but you don't have Tool?
Oh. They're one of those bands. They're against streaming or "people listening to their albums out of order".
:rolleye:

Our family had one of those (I think its was an Argus branded one). Oh god it was beyond awful. Images were bad even in good light (indoor pictures were next to worthless). It was basically a battery powered web cam. Come to think of it, it actually could do that as a feature as it had USB.
Out of curiosity, I actually managed to dig and find a few pictures. These pictures are a little over 10-11 years old. And it didn't even save JPG. They were .BMP's.
Outdoor picture. Probably the best it over took.

Indoor picture. Horrible noise. And that's me probably around 10-11-ish?

We got a proper 2 MP Nikon P&S not too long afterwards. Much, much, much better camera. And a 64 MB CompactFlash card. :v:
man you sure were one hell of a nerdy looking kid (no offense), mind posting a current mug so we can see how much you've changed?
??
he looks like an average 10 year old boy

The name "Tool" is fitting then.

Breakout board just makes me think someone will go into a room and say "SOMEONE NEED A COMPUTER!?" and proceed to take out the card and shove it inside a computer to have a computer inside a computer.
Wait, can we go deeper?
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
Someone please attempt to have a computer inside a computer inside a computer and so on.

It's really long, but from what I've read so far, a company was producing a radiation therapy machine in the early 80s with a huge software bug which would give patients insane amounts of radiation. One guy's treatment was for 6000 rads over the course of six and a half weeks and due to the bug got 18 000 in a second, then died a few months later from radiation poisoning. The manufacturer kept saying it wasn't a problem and put the machines back into service.

That was a really really interesting read.
Safeties all based in software when dealing with deadly levels of radiation? Wtf where they thinking?
