My sound system's power amplifiers use the IEC C19 Connector. But they are capable of producing 6000W RMS at the outputs so its no wonder. ~£5 for a cable.
so in my absence from fp i got some major hipster cred, i drew a thing with the paper by 53 app for ipad, and it got featured on the official website showcasing cool stuff people do with it

Hey, could be worse
Dell's PSUs have standard connectors with a non-standard pinout
Guess what happens if your PSU dies and you try to use your own replacement

Considering you're also from Denmark, you're probably my neighbor. If they're expensive enough that it would suck if the computer happened to be a paperweight, you can borrow mine.
Someone on the Internet shared everyone's thoughts of the code boobs thing being sexist.
You've really got to love proprietary standards in technology that give the manufacturers a chance to charge you up the arse for simple things. I think that was one of my primary motivations when I moved to PC a few years ago, standardised ports.
i hate that my new nikon camera uses a proprietary usb port, the earlier nikon one i had used a regular mini usb

most cameras don't support a standard USB connection
at least nikon cameras usually have mini HDMI, and they come with a cable
Got a Hakko FX-888D soldering station today. So much better than the RadioShack POS I've been using.

yeah i know, but why would they have a standard port on one of the cheaper models but not this? silly

I'm afraid I'm about as far away as I can possibly be (I live in the cold north), but I'll go down to the local electronics store monday. According to their website they have the plug I need.
I've ordered everything I need to build my own quad-copter =D

I actually bought this along with a bunch of other stuff to get my plane up and running again last Sunday. It's a clone of the APM autopilots, sow that I can set up either my tricopter, my plane or anything else I build to fly missions autonomously. It's going to be so cool. It comes with a telemetry link running on 433 Mhz (falls in the 70 cm amateur band, I'm licensed), so that I can send commands or receive data from a PC.

If they don't, you could pretty easily replace the connector with a standard one
So I started to have issues with YouTube videos using HTML5 buffering extremely slowly.
I tried to opt out using this page:
https://www.youtube.com/html5
But it seems they've removed the button! GREAT, THANKS GOOGLE
[t]http://puu.sh/8oxMp.png[/t]
I don't see a button.
And yes, I tried pressing the checkbox next to "The HTML5 player is currently used when possible."
It doesn't do diddly

I can confirm, the button is absent on my side aswell.
The button doesn't exist in chrome because google
Well that blows.
I go on Flickr flicking through Flickr users photos and I found this Flickr-ific photo of someone's ThinkPad collection and it's a hell of a joblot.

There exists ways of blocking the HTML player with an add-on. I had one, but it has stopped working.

I got one recently as well, make sure you get some good, thin gauge, leaded solder as well. It makes a huge difference.
I had to make a digikey order anyway, so I threw in some of this:
http://www.digikey.ca/product-search/en?x=13&y=21&lang=en&site=ca&KeyWords=82-117-ND
It works very well compared to the lead free crap that I got from Canadian Tire.
Finally got around to figuring out what cable I need to hook my computer up to my Tv, mini Dp to hdmi. Think I pick one up next paycheck, then I'll get a couple xbox controller receivers and a cable to wire the on board audio to my gpu. So excite
I took apart my Xbox's video connector and am in the process of researching how to get it to output component. All the pins are there, they were just never used. The things I do to not wait a month for a $6 parcel...
Also added a USB slot for it. It's kind of incredible that MS was so lazy about making their shit proprietary, they just changed the connectors a little.

So um, apparently Nvidia are wizards and their cards output audio over DVI.

if you use DVI-> HDMI, yes
if you use DVI-> HDMI, yes
Seems simple enough, DVI has more pins than HDMI does so the card just automatically outputs HDMI compatible sound through them

That's an entirely standard IEC C19 cable. It's not proprietary or non-standard in any regard. It's common as fuck in the server market. You can get a cable for $10 or an adapter for standard C13's for a whole $4.

AMD cards had that for a while, even when they had an ATI logo on the box. It's fairly old.

I just bought a Xbox component video cable for $8. Because I'm too lazy to build my own. :v:
On the old 360's the HDD drive was simply a 2.5 inch laptop drive in an enclosure with a proprietary external connector. For a company that likes trying to lock you in, they really like using common standards with bare minimum proprietary-ness. Then again, it tends to be more enforced in software.

IIRC, the laptop HDDs had some weird firmware going on.
So I've changed the plan from a straight up cable to a box that lets me switch between component and composite. I'd add VGA because some people say it could do that natively, but I can't find any documentation on it. Also still looking on info as to what each mode (bridging pins to change video modes, my favorite!!!!!! :))))) does.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Bzxe7BX.png[/t]
This connector is gonna be the death of me. Why didn't they just keep it the same for the 360? It has roughly the same pins and functionality.
