Don't worry, in 3 years we will have wristwatches that are twice as powerful as your computer
i highly doubt that
[editline]27th April 2014[/editline]
did you mean more powerful than his computer? or than modern components in general?
he was joking

sorry I'm tired and my /s meter is broken
in other news I just sipped another wicket
I'm working on a project for school and a very small part of it is doing some break-even analyses in excel, I had another group member send me some budget stuff and I had that open. I downloaded an example template break-even analysis online and opened it, but I forgot the budget was open and I thought I had two of the templates open so I closed it
Then I hit Ctrl+Shift+T to try and bring it back up :suicide:
welp, can already feel the disappointment I'll get when my two 6870's crumbles when I start that up
can confirm my GPUs are now fine corned dust
ran pretty bad. didn't measure my FPS, but it was slideshow bad. upgrading couldn't happen any time sooner at this point
[editline]28th April 2014[/editline]
gonna need some help with some proxy and torrenting. peer2peer is blocked at my place, and I'm trying to get Lost Alpha for Stalker installed. decided to run uTorrent through my VPS using putty to open proxy to my server, yet it won't download and connect properly for whatever reason. if I wait for a good amount, it will eventually start pulling stuff but would be cool if I didn't have to wait forever until it finally lets go.

there was never any popcorn here bytheway
it pulls out half a KB before it gives up. I see that it also connects to a local IP in the house which doesn't belong to me.
[editline]fake editline[/editline]
setting the port to random seems to help, but I see there are a looot of seeders it never connects to or only pulls some bytes from. hmmmm

I think it's compiled AutoIt, bluescreening my VM every so often makes progress slow :l
[editline]28th April 2014[/editline]
Here's the decompiled autoit script: http://pastebin.com/WGVmePzM

The virus total scan (see the thread for results) picked up AutoIt a few times.
The virus total scan (see the thread for results) picked up AutoIt a few times.
it's a little worrying that only 7 out of 50 picked it up
I'm gonna upgrade (as in reinstall) to 64-bit Windows 7 and maybe slap on more ram. The computer currently has 4GB and I want 8GB which would help a lot with my video editing. Then again ram is expensive now...
it's a little worrying that only 7 out of 50 picked it up
Why? AutoIt's just an automation tool, not a virus. It's surprising those pick it up at all.
I never got why Firefox sometimes won't let you open it because the process was already running - if it was such a big problem, and they can detect it, I don't get why don't you get the option to close the process on the window....

I'm pretty impressed by how good heuristics are getting these days

I'm no malware expert, but I'm pretty sure the ones which detected AutoIt saw it because of what it was doing, not for what it was. feel free to fill me in if what I'm saying is wrong though! :v:

Half assed deobfuscating part of it, most of the random variables are results of previous lines:

It seems to sleep for 16.872 seconds when AvastUI.exe is running, or bail out when Vbox.exe, VMwaretray.exe, vpc.exe or VBoxTray.exe is running

Windows 8 uses less resources you know. At least it amazes me on my Asus T100 how smooth things are with an Atom z3740 and 2 GB ram.
Also how is ram expensive? Its very cheap in norway currently.
Its like 89 $.

Do what I do.
Install Classic Shell and change the default programs to not use the Metro Apps.
My dad doesn't like Windows 8
I have to laugh everytime someone says Windows 8 i don't like it.
Its windows, if you don't like windows 8 then you never liked windows to begin with. its the same like being stuck on windows xp or something.
"I don't like start menu" Well there is startisback, classic shell and many more.
Windows 8.1 update 1 will also introduce porting of old software that was used in win xp, the code is already there so it ports it over to windows 8.x.
And this summer they release the new start menu which is more like the old one.
I think he has software that one works properly or has issues if you don't use windows 7. Which is also why he still has a 2nd computer running xp.
For anyone running a laptop or netbook or a Intel Atom based tablet try out the Atom optimized Pale Moon. http://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-atom.shtml
Seems to work much smoother than the normal firefox on x86 , Try out and see if you notice any difference. all addons work etc.
I'm gonna loose my shit if I don't get a mouse pad for this mouse.

Windows 8 discussions always boil down into "Stop dis/liking things I dis/like" so let's not even start

I think he means win8 bitching in general.
