I wonder how long an i5 2400 will last for without having to upgrade? Seems everyone is moving onto newer processors now. Some extra processing power for my Wii emulation wouldn't go amiss either.
Pepper;44722047']Something came Saturday. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5831868/P1090285.JPG[/t]
Was it you? [editline]4th May 2014[/editline] Oh shit, the image didn't load for me before for some reason
I've spent about 6 hours putting together details on streaming LAN parties with things like nginx-rtmp and raspi, and finally it's in a position that I can publish it and go grab a drink. Someone might find it useful, you never know: http://blog.duck.me.uk/lan-video-production-and-streaming/
You guys need to be watching the Talladega race. Dogecar is so awesome.
was fiddling around in CCC, then I noticed Overdrive said my second GPU ran at 100% use. figured that CCC showed the wrong values for whatever reason, but MSI afterburner says it too. the temperature is literally 74c when "idling". it's probably wrong to say idling as it's running at 100% usage for whatever reason. any clue what could be going on?

Try cleaning the drivers and reinstall the newest driver.
yeah, those things work wonders.
I call it collateral traffic. "Oh this guy actually has some neat videos, let's check them out." And lots of residual traffic. I'm in a very unique position since the video is the "official" trailer for it and it's the video that the OP and others can point to for an overview of the new features.

Helping a guy in IRC with some sort of eyesight-related disability navigate through Steam Guard. I feel like a dick for not having a massive disability - he can't navigate through it with a screenreader because Orca doesn't work with Steam, and I asked him to grab a screenshot so I can help him faster, he hasn't said anything for like 10 minutes after he asked what site would be easy to upload an image to, and I said imgur. [editline]5th May 2014[/editline] Took him 32 minutes to upload a screenshot to Google Drive, took me 15 seconds to explain clearly what was going on in the screenshot and help him. If there's a god and an afterlife, I'm going to punch the asshole in the face for doing this to people when I die.
Alright guys in about 1-2 hours I'm finally downgrading to Windows 7. Windows 8 is just ain't cutting it anymore.
Good.
I really don't understand the hate for Windows 8. not trying to start a shitstorm, but why is it so bad that some of you go all the way to downgrading? legit curious
I already explained a post before but I'll explain again. 50% of my crashes were OS level related(as in most likely AMD drivers weren't liking Windows 8 that well) not because of the GPU dying.
What's strange is that some people have weird problems like this, while some (like me) have absolutely zero issues. Its bizarre. Granted, I have a laptop that runs Vista SP2 better than 7 so anything is possible I suppose.

Likely because it's built for a touchscreen and not so much in mind for desktop machines or laptops without a touchscreen.
Likely because it's built for a touchscreen and not so much in mind for desktop machines or laptops without a touchscreen.
8.1u1 basically fixed every single one of those problems
8.1u1 basically fixed every single one of those problems
Oh cool.
Likely because it's built for a touchscreen and not so much in mind for desktop machines or laptops without a touchscreen.
the only thing different is literally a metro screen in that regard, which can easily be solved with thirdparty programs. metro isn't really that bad either, it's just a manner of getting used to
I already explained a post before but I'll explain again. 50% of my crashes were OS level related(as in most likely AMD drivers weren't liking Windows 8 that well) not because of the GPU dying.
Thats really weird i have changed gpus often from nvidia to amd etc , and never had any crashes or driver issues, maybe i am just lucky. I saw one guy in the windows 8 thread post how it was windows 8s fault but it was his own fault or something. Also curious what kind of crashes you have, did you do any OC? I heard some people had problems with oced hardware when coming from windows 7 to 8.x Also were you running windows 8 or 8.1?
8.1u1 basically fixed every single one of those problems
... 8.0 is sufficient - you don't have to use the touchscreen UI stuff if you don't like it. I never used it.
I use Windows 7 because I don't need 8 None of the new features or advantages really appeal to me, so I'd rather stick with what I have instead of trying to get used to a new OS because "it's better"
I use windows 7 because I'm too lazy to install Windows 8.1 and my parents would be pissed off and confused on how to use Windows 8. Just like me now.
I use windows 7 because I'm too lazy to install Windows 8.1 and my parents would be pissed off and confused on how to use Windows 8. Just like me now.
I use Arch, Debian, Win 7 and 8.1 (not all on one machine though) because I can't make up my goddamn mind. Though I might move this Windows 7 desktop to 8.1 since I have an extra key.
I went back to 7 on my editing rig because 8 just didn't agree with my audio hardware, I was getting constant audio dropouts and sync issues that with the same hardware and software I don't get in Windows 7. My Laptop is still on 8.
Sony developed a 148 GB/in2 tape, everyone in SH is going crazy over it Not because of the density, but because they think nobody uses tapes anymore, and they'll finally make a comeback :v:
People need to stop saying tape is dead. It's not dead and never even got close to dead. There's never ever been a better value backup medium and I guarantee you every single F500 company is using them HEAVILY.
People need to stop saying tape is dead. It's not dead and never even got close to dead. There's never ever been a better value backup medium and I guarantee you every single F500 company is using them HEAVILY.
At the hospital I shadowed at in high school, they just had two cabinets just chock full of tape backups. It was crazy. At the same time though, you could see how they progressed through their upgrades in the past decade, from using Compaq dual Pentium III systems with Win2000 Server (which were still active and in use), and Windows 2008 with state of the art Dell Xenons and everything in between.
I interned at a care facility for people with all kinds of disabilities. It was my duty to take care of the tape backups while I was there - every night, the server was backed up to tape, that was placed into a fairly large fireproof safe. After the backups had been in the safe for about a week, they got moved off-site.
