I'd use the side monitors of that thing as holders for my speakers, then put my CRT TV at the side of where the keyboard should be.

Fortunately my rig is good enough to keep a consistent 60fps, every now and then it will drop into the 40s but only for a few seconds

I still got a 64gb SSD on my shelf. if I had a extra SATA port I'd make it a dedicated scratch disk for Adobe stuff.

Don't take a logic board failure out of the equation, they can cause many of the similar symptoms as a GPU failure. Stuck on the apple logo with artifacting.
A failing logic board can also cause the Mac to turn into a vacuum cleaner as you described.
A good re-seating of all the hardware that could come loose is also not a bad idea, as I just read that the RAM and the logic board itself can become jostled loose easily.

Just got Atom installed on laptop.
Imagine Sublime Text, but with some third-party packages being built-in instead of being packages, and make it way fucking slower, and make all keybinds in menus show the OS X crap instead of the standard keys that exist on literally every other platform.
If you have a Sublime license, and use it, use that for the next 6-12 months.
If you don't, give it a try.

Also in case it's not easily apparent, the reticle and ammo count are in the upper left for whatever reason (and I had no minimap)
whats the deal with my connection to the SFTP/SSH being capped at 115 KB/s? I just moved the file I wanted over to my webserver, and it downloads at the speed I want
almost sounds like the SSH connection is being throttled here? explains why everything was so slow when I used it as an SSH tunnel

or not, changed the port to something else no where around the old port, yet it seems throttled. any clue what that could be? speedtest on the server says the speeds are fine to my location, and downloads over HTTP isn't affected
