damn this looks good for $99
If it had noise cancellation stuff I'd call it a Define R4 killer.
but R4 is a mid tower
I don't like full towers. Unless you need more than 5 or so hard drives and more than 2 optical drives, why not just get a mid tower?
I think I figured out a great workaround for my streaming. Since the issue is the gamecapture in OBS, I simply used Dxtory to capture and funnel it to OBS directly. The result is a SIGNIFICANTLY smoother video. The difference is unbelievable. http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13641475/GridTest2.mp4

You can also remove 5 of the drive bays and move the other 3 back several inches, allowing you fit fucking enormous radiators in the front panel, and some beefy ones in the top. Very few people are going to need THAT much space for shit. And more to the point, most full towers I see are just a mid tower with 50 extra 5.25 inch bays, which I find to be fucking dumb. Why would I need 8 of them, and only 3 hard drive bays?
Anyone with a free grandfathered Google Apps account mind going to www.google.com/+JohnHanke www.google.com/+BrandonBadger and tell me if you see their profile picture or the blank one (this one https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-suEYpS5ivY4/U27qYftZbVI/AAAAAAAAIyI/B9zrPpcGa1k/s0/2014-05-10_20-11-33.png)
Just measured stuff around the GPU in my case, and checked the size specs for the GPU I ordered. It should just fit, there's like 0.5cm of clearance, and if it doesn't fit, I need to mount my hard drives in some other spot than the regular mounting spot. Just thinking about that GPU is getting me all hot and bothered, I need to stop thinking about it.
who the fuck in their right mind designed the new firefox to look like Chrome?
I like it, and you can theme it if you don't.
who the fuck in their right mind designed the new firefox to look like Chrome?
What's wrong with this, though I like it. The only thing that kinda bothers me is that the icon for private browsing mode is now in the top right corner. [editline]11th May 2014[/editline] Besides, web browser development has for quite long been a constant copying loop between Firefox, Chrome and Opera. A lot of the UI in both Chrome and Firefox originates in Opera, actually.
have ~$1200 on hand which I figured I'd spend on upgrading my desktop. some of that cash will go towards a new tower, but the rest, not too sure. I won't be able to afford to upgrade all of it, so either I upgrade CPU + mobo, or upgrade the GPU. really conflicted on what I should upgrade first. current specs GPU's are two 6870's I'd imagine going for a powerful single core GPU would probably be the best choice as I enjoy to play games for now, but my CPU is pretty bad with its dual core. have a feeling it'll end up bottlenecking the GPU anyway?
Has anyone had a look at the amd AM1 stuff? It looks quite interesting, motherboards for £20 and the highest end chip for £40, and is faster than an atom.
I could probably do sums on paper as fast as an Atom. Anything before baytrail, anyway.
Found out my RAID10's 4th drive kept dropping due to a bad cable. This is the third bad cable that came with my ASUS board. Now currently rebuilding as it's been degraded for like a year. [editline]10th May 2014[/editline] Also I mention this because this morning I left a defrag running and I was down to two drives in my RAID10. And it showed up as failed. But I think it's safe since it dropped the first copy of each mirror. So I just rebooted and it went back to 3 drives.
strangely enough, all of the sata cables that came with my ASUS parts have failed pretty quickly. they're cheap rubbish
16GB Corsair vengeance ram r9 270x 4770k go for a z97 mobo cause new shit is always nice
I'd rather go Nvidia this time around, and I'd rather get the flagship models so I'm somewhat future proof. been dying to try out Shadowplay for ages as well as getting that sweet PhysX in a few select games. hnng the 780Ti is so expensive though. it gets roughly 5-10 frames more than the 780, so ehh. maybe it's not worth it to go all the way to the top for a few frames?
firefox looks more like thunderbird than it does like chrome really it is nice that they match
I don't really know what all the fuss is about. To me, Firefox now looks much better. On linux, the gradient tabs almost made me barf.
I really like the new approach of firefox too. even made a bold move and tried to convert once I got to know it existed in Aurora, but it still feels very sluggish to use compared to chrome imo. especially when one page decides to take a massive shit on the browser and makes everything crawl to a halt. would rather sacrifice more memory to use chrome than that happening

Also why go for the i7? i5 is much better and then you can spend additional funds for the gpu.
Why I like Chrome's tabs more than Firefoxes. should explain:
Why I like Chrome's tabs more than Firefoxes. should explain:
I never remove tabs like that anyways so who cares
I never remove tabs like that anyways so who cares
It's nice if you have two screens or otherwise just want to view two pages at once
Also useful if you WinKey-LeftArrow and WinKey-RightArrow a pair of browsers on the 2nd screen.
It's nice if you have two screens or otherwise just want to view two pages at once
If people really wanted it that bad then it would have been in it already. Its Open source after all.
Why I like Chrome's tabs more than Firefoxes. should explain:
I'm on firefox, but I'm not sure what i should be looking at?
I'm on firefox, but I'm not what i should be looking at?
In Chrome you can pull the taps into a new window.
well shit, maintenance in my house on wednesday 7-12am now i gotta go up early and shut down my server gracefully and wait until it's over
In Chrome you can pull the taps into a new window.
umm you can do that with firefox too
well shit, maintenance in my house on wednesday 7-12am now i gotta go up early and shut down my server gracefully and wait until it's over umm you can do that with firefox too
Not without letting go of the mouse button.
In Chrome you can pull the taps into a new window.
I can do the same in firefox
umm you can do that with firefox too
And for a long while too [editline]11th May 2014[/editline]
Not without letting go of the mouse button.
It's called "drag&drop", it's a pretty old way of OS interaction
