My main screen is 19" 1280x1024 and my second one is 17" 1280x1024. And my old second screen, 19" 1280x1024 broke. And in my basement, I should have 2 more broken 17" 1280x1024 screens.
Repaired up a Macbook Air (late 2010) for around $300
Considering it's worth $400 on eBay, should I bother selling it to buy a Thinkpad or would it be more worth it to keep it? It's a nice lappy but it's a bit slow.

If you want faster then I'd sell it and save the money for something much better than a ThinkPad.
My college is loaded to high heaven with 1280x1024 monitors, I was going to use one as a secondary monitor until I turned it on and found it was broken. (Its now being used to stop my door suddenly opening because of no door handle.)
My school has a ton of 1280x1024 monitors everywhere, libraries, labs, etc. 1080p monitors is on the iMacs.

Depends on usage - 1440p@60Hz for any productive work, and for slower gaming, 1080p@120Hz for shooters and stuff.

1440. tn panels suck and getting a legit 120hz ips panel without crazy input latency or a high failure rate is hard. and those korean monitors don't tend to have the greatest build quality either

i had a 120hz CRT for counterstrike and osu! up until a few weeks ago, and switching down to 60Hz made no noticeable difference to my performance in-game
120hz has benefits but if i had to pick between the two i'd go for a colour-accurate 1440p panel every time
I actually play plenty of games at 1080p on my 1600p screen just because of recording them, but it doesn't bother me often. But working in 2560x1600 is just so fucking nice.
It's unfortunate mine is a CCFL backlit screen because without my AC during my recording sessions I feel like I'm getting sunburned with the heat it punches out to my face.
Isn't phone service (as in landline) classified as common carrier in the US?
If you lose net neutrality, at least you can still get dial-up without restrictions.

If the web server restricts download speeds based on the connection, if the server has resume support, a download manager can spam like 20 connections to the server for different parts of the file, and get the file 20 times faster than it would normally.

I am also going to give a vote for replacing the SATA cables. I had issues with my RAID5 but after switching them out I haven't had any issues since (couple years ago).

I had an MS tech on the phone for the 4th or 5th time since the incident. Still not resolved.
