Is it a bad thing if a laptop sparks when you plug in the charger? I feel like it is.

Dragon dicks are important. Dragon dicks are true freedom.

I was thinking about buying a massive one, and put it on a small podest and call it art.

CubemanV2 works there

it's normal
Ideally you should be plugging in the DC power side, then plugging the AC side into a socket that isn't turned on, then turning the socket on. No arcs then.
With some connectors, such as the "Neutrik Powercon", you HAVE to do this. They are designed without a breaking capacity and the current carrying parts will slowly "erode" if you don't.

The laptop is sparking with happiness because your putting your plug into its hole.

Doesn't really do us any good in North America where we don't have individually switched sockets. I actually have to perform the reverse on this laptop, as it only arcs and audibly pops on the AC socket if the laptop is aready plugged in. If you plug into AC then plug in DC, no arcs.
Interestingly, it has nothing to do with the fact I'm using a cheap knockoff power brick, as the original OEM one did the same thing :v:. Oh you, Gateway.
I remember I was once told by someone from europe that our plugs and outlets looked "flimsy" compared to theirs.

They do look very flimsy compared to:

We don't use the European Schuko connector, but ours are all individually fused, they also fall pin-side up and hurt like buggery if you stand on one bare foot. I think everyone here in the UK has stood on a plug at one point :v:

I stood on one when I was about 14, and it left three holes about a half inch deep in my heal. Took about three months to heal properly.

because they do

those plugs are really easy to trip out. UK plugs are nigh impossible to remove accidentally and have good locking safety mechanisms

Doesn't matter anymore cause a Bios flash just bricked it lol.

I did that by squeezing both prongs with my thumb and index finger. The grounded one was a bit harder, since its probably made out of better quality metal, but its didn't take much effort.
They don't look flimsy, they ARE flimsy and are an incredibly old and even somewhat unsafe design.

If you really want it you'll probably be a better home than the scrap room.
If it happens at when the plug meets the wall socket, then pay no mind.
However,
If it happens right at your computer DC plug then something's wrong.
I get away from the thread for a day and you all are discussing dragon dildos and sockets, shame on you.
CIPWTTKT'd myself today, gave a computer that had "unexpected reboots" a basic maintenance, didn't see anything wrong with it, installed it at the customer's house, and it reboots unexpectedly. Turns out I didn't see the six popped caps right next to the socket on the mobo. Time to give them a budget for a new machine because I'm not in the mood to hunt down and replace caps for a six year old computer.
She also gave me a laptop that won't boot, BIOS doesn't see the hard drive and I can tell the thing's been tampered, I have a worst case scenario in mind and I really hope it isn't that.

My dad went to London once to see darts, live. So he quickly bought a UK charger for his phone.
Once that thing was laying on the floor in the living room, you bet what happened.
It hurt like a motherfucker, as I had no socks on or anything.
The HDD's there, thank god, but it's not booting. Plugged it into another laptop to see if I can get it to boot and

How can you fuck up that bad?
