stop kicking your plugs
Yes, that's a solution to only a small part of the problem.
What got damaged?
Surprisingly nothing. I know for a fact that the crack was developed all in one day because I only started to hear churning noises today, where water level is getting low and air bubbles are entering the pump. The water just dripped down the tube to the bottom of the case, which then onto my floors in slow and small amount as the crack develops larger as time progresses. It could have been a lot worse.

well since i grew up around NA plugs I don't know what a "basic switch" is
but i've never had problems with things coming unplugged unless i'm actually trying to unplug them
in many cases it's actually been kind of difficult to unplug a thing if it's been in there for a while

On newer outlets, they tend to grip better. But if you have a house as old as ours (45 years) most of the outlets are the ones originally installed in the house (I can tell, on the ones we have replaced, have a 60 cent sticker on them). Like many things, they get worn after so many years of use.
I suppose the response would be to replace them, but ain't nobody got time for that, when they are still "modern" by most means, since they are grounded ones.

this is why I still haven't gotten myself a custom water loop in my system :tinfoil:

A switch. To turn it off at the source. Pretty damn simple. A way to turn things off without unplugging. But like that matters since things come out so damn easily anyway...
The only good thing about NA plugs is the two little holes on the plugs. Makes it easy to wire up to other power sources.

Oh like an on/off switch. You said "switch" in the context of electrical wiring so I was confused.
We generally have our power switches on the actual objects instead of the outlet, so most people don't bother putting a switch there I guess. Outlets with switches do exist around here though, I've seen them a couple of times.
A guy I know fucked up at work. He was told to update a website, looked at our datasheet, saw that it ran on wordpress. Both him and I are paid highschool interns, so we both learn as we go. He doesn't know how to access the wordpress website, so he goes in Godaddy, the host and clicks the wordpress button. Of course, this doesn't open up the wordpress control panel, it actually installs a whole new copy of wordpress on the server, overiding the existing website. We pulled the webpages out of google's cache, but now I'm trying to figure out how to save his ass by throwing up a working copy of the website that we can at least temporarily use. We're a super small business, like 6 employees, so I don't know exactly who's going to use the website in the near future. Definitly a shitshow though.
Did you try calling up godaddy and ask if they have backups or anything? Can't hurt to ask.

Guessing you have a top mounted PSU? If that happened to me my PSU would be dead so fast.

Chances of these kind of things happening are extremely rare. I'd still recommend watercooling over close loops and air cooling any day, as long as you know what you're doing.

Nope the PSU is on the bottom as seen in the pic. I just got really lucky.

woah didn't notice the new page sorry
Problem with water cooling for me is the thought of having liquid going near components I've spent more than a few pounds on. I'm just too paranoid its an accident waiting to happen.
Shame it's expensive. It's the only water cooling I've seen that's caught my attention.
[editline]31st May 2014[/editline]
Yeah.
Cheapest price for a h100i $179 in nz
not too much of a premium if you consider how much less you're going to have to clean out imo
[editline]31st May 2014[/editline]
still gonna stick with my nh-d14 though, i don't use my desktop nearly enough to justify watercooling

Do you really need watercooling? I got a Noctua D-14 and noctua fans all over my rig, its really silent and cool already.

I wouldn't really recommend it, id rather spend less and get a Noctua D-14 or D-15 same performance and cheaper. I like my rig for functionality and not flash.

You could also get the Dark Rock Pro 3 if you still want flash for cheaper, as long as you sacrifice 2-3 degrees.

I've never needed to watercool because I've never been limited by temps.
I ran a Q6600 OC'd at 3.2 on a TX3 Evo (not even a 212+) with a Noctua fan, and I was never temp-limited, I always had instability for other reasons, and same with my 780, limited by the silicon rather than temps, even with the stock blower.

Was thinking about it, but I don't really want to throw money in Ubisoft's direction.
Holy shit you are awesome!
I feel stupid for saying this but I never understood the hype of the game at all.

The thing I really don't understand is people that spend $150+ on a special edition of a game that they couldn't possibly know the quality of.
I can understand buying expensive special editions of classic movies/albums, but a brand new game just makes no sense to me.

How hard is it to replace the battery?
Is it one of those devices where it's a pain but not impossible, or is it one of those devices where it's easier to just save up for a new one?

I bought the collectors edition of GTA V which was like $180 AUD. I thought it was worth it.

Eh. I think that's more understandable, since it's an established IP.
A new IP like Watch_Dogs is a crapshoot though.

I've been wondering this about the Surface tablets for quite a while, but is the battery on these things replaceable?
Well... its a £1200 sealed unit, I'd have to heatgun the display out, be extremely fucking careful with the myriad of flex cables, remove the motherboard and peel the batteries off from the back of the case (yes they are glued down too)
Fuck that shit.
The scaling looks a bit of a let-down with those programs.
