Oops. I tried setting it to 4k, but it locked up the screen and I had to reboot. 2560x1440 works perfectly fine though. This is pretty cool on a 15" laptop.

Possibly. Ironically, I find lots of buffering issues in the browser version, but the "unofficial" Windows 8 app and the Android app, work fine. Its downloading the exact same files, so I have no clue.

I think the only reason the Android app works for me is because I 'pin' my music instead of stream it.

And the G600 is the special child in the family.
And the G300 is the forgotten middle brother that actually works hard, puts in 110% and never gets recognized.
So here's an interesting computer problem.
My laptop screen is fucking up. It will sometimes blink out, either to a black or white screen. Often when I start it it's like that, and it will often do so again later on.
I can temporarily fix it by fiddling with the screen, generally either pinching one of the edges, or by twisting it (push top-right corner away, pull top-left corner closer). I'm pretty sure it's a loose or frayed wire, but I haven't cracked it open yet to fix it.
The weirdest thing is that I seem to be able to trigger it through software.
For one, it seems to reliably happen when I switch to a new window or tab. It's not every time, but blinking to black seems to happen most often immediately after an alt-tab or ctrl-tab. Or something else that causes a full screen redraw - launching a new program, or sometimes just opening a new webpage.
Also, sometime dark horizontal lines will appear, like the backlight is going out or something. But those lines scroll with program content - even though they can go outside the current window. And even if I scroll down far enough for it to be off-screen, it reappears in the same place when I scroll back up.
However, it is definitely a hardware problem. I can reliably (100%) make it go to the white screen by torquing the screen the "wrong" way, and I can only "fix" it by hardware means (even a hard power cycle does not work).
This has been going on for a few months now, I just haven't been assed to do anything about it. It's really getting bad, though, so I'll probably crack it open tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully I just need to reconnect some stuff - a replacement video cable isn't too expensive, but a replacement LCD is kind of steep.
Before anyone says it, I have NEVER held the laptop by the screen, mostly because it's so flimsy it would snap. I think it's happened because I usually grab the laptop, when closed, by the side, so I'm squeezing the rim of the display (it's a 9-pound laptop, I need a solid grip on it). So yeah, more shitty design from Asus.
The speakers on my Y500 have a similar problem. Sometimes they'll stop working, but if I wiggle the screen around, it'll start making noise again. I'm assuming the speaker wires are routed through the hinge or something.

LCD ribbon cable may have come loose (perhaps touching the keyboard moves the cable just enough to cause problems?)
The horizontal lines is really weird and I have no explanation for what might be causing that

My old Asus G53SW did that, but the LCD lines were mostly constant and based on the color content of the screen.
If you slam the base of the computer and it fixes itself, then it may be as mentioned above loose LCD cable.
Take the PC apart and remove the LCD cable from both sides, clean with alcohol, firmly reattach with tape.
What the hell is the point of throttling?
Like, why would they deliberately make their service worse?
What the hell is the point of throttling?

so you can cough up more money for "better" services
Damn, you Guys have got some dirty ISPs. How does throttling work? Could you find a way around it?
It's really hard to set up if you don't have an actual Mac handy.
os x virtual machine does the job
I would def flip my shit if I got an ISP that throttled data depending on the content
Google Music for me only works between 10pm and like 11am... This is getting really weird.
Moved back in with parents.
I changed some modem settings last Christmas when I was here, and I didn't have time to look at them properly.
Apparently the modem now straight-up gives a valid, external IP, to anything you hook up to it, without NAT.
I didn't even know the ISP would give more than 1 IP per home customer.

That's the thing - I can bang on that keyboard all day, as long as whatever I'm typing doesn't make the screen change too much in one frame. And I can alt-tab as much as I want if both programs are on an external monitor. It seems to be dependent on how much screen content changes.
Which is really fucking weird.
Well I'm able to control my tablet or phone using Bluetooth remote control. This seems fancy as fuck seeing I can do the input and MOUSE CONTROL.
Quite fun, actually. I wonder if I could use it to do notes on the tablet while in lessons without having to rely on the onscreen keyboard.

Well then, it's time to make good use of that.

Maybe the loose cable is a digital signal of some sort, and doesn't "update" when nothing is moving. A lot of change puts stress on the cable.
Or the computer magic is malfunctioning.
Yay, got my $50 SSD finally installed in my $300 Elitebook, and it's off and running beautifully.
More laptops should have a bottom cover that comes off with a simple latch and no screws. Makes component installation an absolute breeze.

Which one did you get? I love the latch on mine.
Got my new lens today to replace the broken ones woo

I have never been able to get one working. Even with stock discs, and following tutorials to the T.
i dunno if i told you guys but
there was a bright spot on the screen of my new lumia, so i wanted to replace it. since i was running 8.1, i wanted to downgrade so that they wouldn't blame me and deny a replacement device
so that's how i bricked my phone. didn't respond to anything at all, but somehow appeared in the device manager as a 'device descriptor request failed' thing if you connected it by usb.
well at least i did get replaced, although for a much more serious issue i managed to create myself.
Ugh speaking of spots on the screen my note 2 has developed a nice dark splotch that's really obvious on bright colors like teal and red.

An 8460p with the 900p screen and a 120GB SSD. I love business laptops and it fits the bill.
