Wow I never realised that truecrypt Full disk encryption worked on Windows 8.1 when UEFI is disabled. Brb encrypting all of my Windows 8.1 instances.
I can sleep better at night, knowing my Harddisks are encrypted. The only thing that would not be encrypted to my liking would be my Macbook which uses Filevault 2 ATM.
I should really get around to setting up LUKS on my boxes.
I'm running Arch with LUKS on my laptop, it's baller.
I should set my Cubietruck up to do something, it's just been sitting here since I finished the project involving it What's a good idea :v:
FYI, the Arena Commander module for Star Citizen came out today, so if you sunk money into the project, time to go and test out the flight physics.
I just installed Linux Mint on my little brothers XP laptop, hopefully he'll embrace our lord RMS.
But Linux Mint does not respect his freedom. RMS would not be proud. :v: [editline]4th June 2014[/editline] I'm back on OSX ony my Macbook Again. Xubuntu ran nice, but it had a bit of problems when it came to multimonitor stuff.
Fuck yes, went digging through my boxes of cables, found one of Canon's weird half mini USB half RCA cables Hooked my DSLR up to the black and white viewfinder I ripped from a camcorder a while ago, it's so hilariously hard to record with
I dun goofed today and managed to somehow entirely remove the apt-get functionality from an Ubuntu install. As in, apt is missing from the machine entirely(and the software&update section from the settings) and the PATH variable is just mostly gibberish. Is there any way to somehow restore it without reinstalling?

So ASUS just announced a 4k gaming laptop. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8081/asus-launches-the-rog-gx500-a-4k-uhd-15inch-gaming-notebook Is there anything a 860m an play at 4k with decent fps?

The 1992 version, I mean. But really, looking at some of the benchmarks, it could probably run something like FIFA or F1 at medium-high.
I believe the idea is to run games at 1080p or lower, and then run your desktop at native resolution.
I believe the idea is to run games at 1080p or lower, and then run your desktop at native resolution.
With an 860M you should be able to run any game at 1080p. I'm on a 660M and I haven't found a game yet I can't run at 1080p. The 860M should be at least twice as fast as that. I would expect an 860M to be able to do most games at 1440p. Also remember that at 4K you basically don't need AA to get rid of jaggies. Also wtf according to Wikipedia there are two 860Ms, one is Kepler and one is Maxwell, with very different specs. Rebadges are one thing, but two identically-labeled parts with such a wide performance difference is another.
whats the actual difference also wikipedia it isnt always reliable
Maxwell 860M: 5 modules, 1029MHz base clock, 45W TDP, DX11.2 support, 30% more pixel fillrate but about 45% lower texture fillrate Kepler 860M: 6 modules, 800MHz base clock, 75W TDP, DX11.0
Is that how you connected your PS2 to it?
It's just a plain composite input, I soldered the wires onto an RCA jack I ripped from the camcorder so I can plug whatever I want into it
2008 Prosumer Panasonic versus 2013 Mid-end Handycam [t]http://i.imgur.com/1MqNfiZ.jpg[/t] 5 years of development means the Sony beats the Panasonic in terms of picture quality, screen quality, and stabilizer effectiveness. The Panasonic only beats the Sony's picture in very dim lighting, but not by much. Damn dood.
Considering the topic is already 4K (kind of at least), I'm actually considering getting a 4K monitor. Thing is, I'm not entirely sure that my card supports it. I have a 6950 with 2 mini displayport outputs. According to this thread 4K @60Hz should work fine, but AMD's own website is claiming that only up to 2560x1600 is supported. To make matters worse, Wikipedia is unclear on the matter of mini displayport supporting 4K - it simply says that up to 2560x1600 is supported, though it seems to reference an older revision - not the 1.2 version I'm using. Is the bandwidth of (1.2) mDP the same as that of (1.2) full-size DP? It seems like they should be, and AMD's website is from 2010, so 4K monitors weren't really that popular at the time - the limit might've been changed by new drivers (as would the referenced thread indicate). And no, I have no hopes of gaming at max quality settings and 4K with my current card.
Yeah, this is really noticeable with the old AVGN videos - he used a pretty gigantic camera, but the quality was pretty bad anyway.
I can't remember if he made those videos with DV tapes or Beta ones (I know he did have some work on Beta for broadcasting reasons).
Finally got Star Citizen's 10GB patch downloaded. I like how their launcher also shows how fast the patch is being applied, with bytes left, MB/s speed and an estimated time. It says Patches left: 2 though, so I'm slightly worried about it. I hope it's just some small 200MB patch after this one.
Goddamnit. Failed Physics again. For once I'd like a professor that uses the 7 hours of lecturing a week to actually explain the material. Paying $1500 for a class that requires me to read a $200 book and attend out of class office hours is stupid - why would I pay the $1500 if that $1500 worth of education isn't going to get me anywhere? I know I have the Calculus part down because I'm done with Calculus up to and including Calc 2. No idea why my physics professors are dumbshits.
Yeah, this is really noticeable with the old AVGN videos - he used a pretty gigantic camera, but the quality was pretty bad anyway.
He had a camera that could either record SD onto MiniDV tapes or HD onto P2 cards. However, he was reluctant to make the switch to HD and 16:9 since NES games aren't exactly that. And P2 cards were/are expensive as shit.
Well he could always run the games in an emulator and record off that, I've had pretty good results playing Mega Drive games in such a manner. Should also sort out the analogue and composite video artefact crap nicely as well. [t]http://i.imgur.com/quqQEfr.png[/t]
Well he could always run the games in an emulator
It's just not the same...I think he discussed this at some point too.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/quqQEfr.png[/t]
I think he had addressed that in one of his videos that he didn't like using emulators. I can't remember exactly why though.
Emulation isn't always perfect, especially sound. Also, I'm sure he has lots of games you can find the roms for.
Fair enough then, I've played many games in emulators over time and I haven't come across anything that sounded or seemed off compared to the original console and many of these games I've played on a dozen or so occasions. In fact I think the amount of bitching I did for the "port" of Sonic 2 to Android was magnitudes more than I've ever had for emulation.
I was interviewed on an indie gaming site. Nothing ground breaking, but it was kind of neat. http://shoost.co/2014/06/04/the-voices-of-indie-an-interview-with-sircrest/
