Are you really that paranoid that someone is going to use your computer?
i hide my computer behind 37 separate forms of authentication including trial by combat because i don't want anyone to see how much anime i have

I just use FDE and a Windows Password.
Makes it more than secure for employees trying to get access to the machine.
I use FDE, because I dont truse my Employees with my Laptop. I also take it home every day.
Yes I am. I like security. I own guns and have cameras around my house. I lock and deadbolt my door every night and check it again before bed. My Mac is entirely encrypted; from the point of Boot until it's to the desktop takes about 7 minutes. I'd rather know I'm secure than risk someone getting my stuff. Granted, there's always the NSA to worry about but it's whatever

Hell back when I had a laptop if I brought it anywhere I would take the hard drive out of it and carry it with me in my pocket until I was ready to use it. If someone stole the laptop they wouldn't have any of my information, and it was all of two screws to take the hard drive out.
nikomo would probably be the best one to answer this question lately... What is considered the best "install and go" Linux distribution right now? I miss Ubuntu when it had Gnome 2 still and how easy it was to get set up and you were ready to go.
Personally, I'd go with either Lubuntu or Manjaro.
New login.

Fixed text centering.
Thicker lines
Both work out-of-the box and don't shit down your throat.
I'v used Lubuntu when i'v needed something to boot from with script support. Quick install and no fiddling with configs or settings after install. If you don't need anything fancy, but need it fast i would be my choice

My banner uses variables to prevent repetitive typing, so you can put.
r='\e[31m'
for red so you can put something like
echo -e "${r}Red Text"
however, it's needed you use
nc='\e[0m'
to prevent the color from spilling into the terminal, so you would have.
echo -e "${r}Red Text${nc}"

I personally really love Fedora Linux, its the first distro that hasn't fucked me around in one way or another, just install and start working.
M'Linux
I've got Manjaro dual booted right now, I remember I was fucking around one day on IRC and wanted to see if I could take Manjaro, get it installed, and switch out every single repo for Arch ones to make it into Arch, but with a simpler install. Basically unless I boot into Linux right now, fix my repo list back to a normal Manjaro one and figure out a way to format my Windows drive, I'm stuck with this set up as I don't have a USB stick to do ANYTHING with.
[editline]16th June 2014[/editline]
Oh hey, those Arch Repos work now...
[editline]16th June 2014[/editline]
Nope nevermind I broke it all I need to find a flashdrive and just start fresh
shoot me
none of my drives are visible anymore. I can't boot. all I can do with my desktop now is booting into the EFI shell and looking in the BIOS. tried reconnecting the SATA cables which was a quick fix for like 10 seconds. UGHHH

Manjaro seems to hate the Arch Repositories.
Some packages even have different names.
Hey there,
Has anyone had any issues as of late (or even better currently) with the "Please wait 5 seconds" on CloudFlare looping? If you have can you please PM me?
Thanks
any SSD's you guys recommend? I'm fairly sure my SSD just died since I'm still able to boot using my HDD using legacy mode.

also are you sure the ssd is dead?
I'm not 100% sure yet, but it won't boot compared to my HDD. not sure what I could do to test if it's alive or not

Watching a 4K TV is like staring into the void between universes. You can't see shit but some kind of monster the size of a galaxy probably see you
In other news my Surface power cover arrived.

you can provide an entire third world country with power for three years using that power cover!
i wonder if it all would work when natively booting osx
Look at actual 4k content on a 4K TV its almost like 3D because the objects in the movie look so good that it makes them have this 3D look.
mediamarkt in town has a 4k 60"+ tv on display, and they show 24fps 1080p footage on it :v:
I'd buy one of those fancy 4K TVs but: there's no 4k content, I have nothing that can render it, and i'd rather have money for things like eating and living

Most TVs in stores here show either the built-in demos, DVDs, or really bad analog TV. These are proper "full HD" TVs, too. Sometimes I wonder if they're actually trying to sell them or not.
They need more Laserdisc quality programming.
Nothing can look better than a laserdisc.
Even Bluray looks like shit compared to a laserdisc.
My dad is very sure he's going to be laid off this week. So yea, this'll be fun.
