my 4670k can do slightly better. it's "almost" stable (as in bsod every now and then) at 4.2 GHz
Wow, that is pretty bad. Oh well, silicon lottery doesn't always pay out.
doesn't bother me that much, it's a better overclocker than the 4670k build i made for a friend some weeks ago. it'll probably do 4.1/4.2 if i experiment a little more and the 400MHz difference isn't really that big in real world usage to be honest
Yeah. It's not that big of a deal. I'm glad mine goes to 4.6 though without a sweat. Looks like I'll have to delid to have a chance at 4.7. [editline]18th June 2014[/editline] Also have you guys seen this? Been following it for the last few days, seems like it checks out. Everyone, including the person in question, has no clue how it happened though.
delidding for 100MHz isn't ever worth it unless you have money ready to be thrown away imo
4.7 as in 4.7 and up. And not thrown away. Out of 8 practice delids, I only screwed up one. And it was my first.
what TIM would you use for it? just curious
This. Although Intel's TIM isn't even the big problem.

Edit: I just had this forwarded to ASUS and Intel to see what they think.
I still need to figure out how to put a placeholder website on my domain. Can't host shit until my ISP decides I'm no longer a "rural connection" and unblocks port 80.
ISP's do that where you live? holy shit
ISP's do that where you live? holy shit
what, block ports or not block ports?
That is the freakiest thing I've seen in a while.
I know, right? I've probably spent about 6 hours in the last couple days reading up on related stuff/the thread itself
Holy shit I am completely fucking livid. I get my phone back after two weeks of being fucked around by slow service and exorbitant prices to get my screen replaced by Fonebiz (Nokia's official service place here in Aus) only to have it sent back in two shitty thin layers of bubble wrap and in a thin and terrible postage bag. Guess what. There's a new fucking crack in the screen from the shipping. This is absolutely unacceptable, sheer incompetence and complete ignorance of the roughness of shipping, the most important post-repair service. For a company that has to deal with phone repairs every day from a large mix of brands, they sure are good at fucking it up. This is a complete violation of due care covered by Australian Consumer protection and there is no way I am not getting this problem fixed. Complete and utter bullshit. Fuck you Fonebiz.
Trying to make a Windows 8.1 install USB on Manjaro/Arch is impossible apparently. Woohoo.
oh my god went from struggling to get 60fps at medium in CS:GO at 1080p to 250+ constant and highest everything with a new cpu why did i not upgrade sooner :(
The day I upgrade is the day I need to strap myself into my chair because I'll be blown away by the performance.
The day I upgrade is the day I need to strap myself into my chair because I'll be blown away by the performance.
If I send you the parts, will you record yourself being literally blown away?
If I send you the parts, will you record yourself being literally blown away?
He will be drunk in all that power.
what, block ports or not block ports?
Block your ability to host shit on port 80 (and others). This would be a huge dealbreaker for me. And I guess it would be kinda illegal here. Also it makes me glad that I live in a country where politicians are not that retarded. We are actually on the way to adopt a Law that provided true net neutrality.
Block your ability to host shit on port 80 (and others). This would be a huge dealbreaker for me. And I guess it would be kinda illegal here.
in most situations you don't have a choice, it's either that or no internet
I know that ISP's on your side seem to shit down your throat, but jesus.
I know that ISP's on your side seem to shit down your throat, but jesus.
depends, my ISP is verizon and they don't seem to care what I do with my connection (I have a number of things running on my server from my home connection) though if they decide to pull something my only other choice is comcast (uurgh)
depends, my ISP is verizon and they don't seem to care what I do with my connection (I have a number of things running on my server from my home connection) though if they decide to pull something my only other choice is comcast (uurgh)
Verizon's efforts to create a Fast-lane would worry me. Just the fact that they want to do this and are fighting so hard to get it to pass is really worrying. But as you said, the alternatives are not really better.
it begins [t]http://share.manandtumor.com/Dq0VC.jpg[/t]
I only just now learned that it's called Mavericks, not Maverick.
