do tablets not exist in mips land or something i've been perfectly happy with my rt-ac66u
Tablets don't exist in my land because I simply don't see a use for them. My S3 covers me on the move whilst my PC covers me at home.

The fuck? Skype did the 'Failed file transfer' sound right out of the blue when I had my laptop lid closed. Spooky
Set up my new router If anyone asks, it's a Mac Pro Mini / Thermos
I'm just waiting for a story where a clueless tech-illiterate person actually uses one of those as a Thermos or some other cup because they actually thought it was just a fancy one :v:

[editline]21st June 2014[/editline] Then again, never underestimate toddlers.
"Why is there a 120V line, ethernet line, several thunderbolt lines and USB cables plugged into this thermos?"
more like "why are there.... some sort of wires plugged into this thermos?" don't overestimate the average tech illiterate
Why on earth can you still not view the iTunes store in a browser? I don't want to have to load iTunes everytime I want to check something on there. Especially with how bad iTunes runs on my laptop.
The fuck? Skype did the 'Failed file transfer' sound right out of the blue when I had my laptop lid closed. Spooky
That's because windows went to hibernate, and Skype doesn't know how to shut up. [editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
is his screen really slow to light up or is it that "cold boot" (if that's the correct term, that hibernation stuff Windows 8 does)?
I think it's partially due to his UEFI posting so fucking fast and the screen taking 4 seconds to turn on.
more like "why are there.... some sort of wires plugged into this thermos?" don't overestimate the average tech illiterate
It's obviously a rechargeable thermos with twitter and instagram functionality
It's obviously a rechargeable thermos with twitter and instagram functionality
Honestly though why haven't apple made half their products at least water resistant? It would cut down on a lot of AppleCare replacement of MacBooks if they had PROPER DRAIN HOLES for accidental coffee spillages and Sony has proven repeatedly that you can pretty much make a water-resistant phone without sacrificing much.

I'm sure it would somehow interfere with the keyboard backlight among other things. About the phones though, I wonder how Sony does it so well and how come they almost hold a monopoly on waterproof phones.
Thought i'd try out EA Sports Gameface after I bought UFC. Put in a side view and a portrait view. This is my face in game using those photos. [t]http://i.imgur.com/DPdvaBH.jpg[/t]
You know what must be done, take a photo of your ass
Tried doing stuff other than faces and it never works.
Tried doing stuff other than faces and it never works.
It needs a basic shape, put googly eyes on your butt Even if it doesn't work it'd be hilarious
Why on earth can you still not view the iTunes store in a browser? I don't want to have to load iTunes everytime I want to check something on there. Especially with how bad iTunes runs on my laptop.
Since we are talking about iTunes, why on Earth is iTunes so overpriced? A lot of albums I've seen are more expensive than the CD or downloading from another site. I can understand places that sell 24-bit albums (like HDtracks) being more expensive because it's a niche market and the files are large (around 1GB-1.5GB for a 24/96 album, twice that for a 24/192 album) For example, Metallica's self-titled album is $16.99 on iTunes, even though I can get the physical version from a store for around $10 (I bought mine for about $6.66 on sale.) On Amazon MP3, it's $7.99. I don't really see any benefit to buying it from iTunes since I can get a physical CD and rip the files off that or just buy a download version from another site.
I laugh at anyone who tries to substitute a proper wired network with wireless. Unless you have a really awesome wireless access point you're going to be hurting for bandwidth once there's three or four devices all trying to be connected at once. Five port gigabit switches are nowhere near expensive anymore.
When my router worked, the 5ghz network was really fast. 100Mbps actual speeds. And I'm about 100feet away from it. But now it seems to be a processing hardware issue versus signal.
From what I've read also is that 24 bit audio is not worth it for the end user, 16 bit pretty much has the human hearing range covered.
high sampling rates are just mainly good for more accurate processing. Not necessarily for the benefit of the listener.
same with raw format for cameras i set it on my dad's camera and he knows little to nothing about it when i showed him he could tone down highlights and stuff he was amazed by technology yet again
high sampling rates are just mainly good for more accurate processing. Not necessarily for the benefit of the listener.
Basically, after a certain point with all signals, a higher sample rate just allows for signal processing with less quality loss.
same with raw format for cameras i set it on my dad's camera and he knows little to nothing about it when i showed him he could tone down highlights and stuff he was amazed by technology yet again
After getting a 64 GB SD card, I just take JPG+RAW. RAW is available if I need it but having a processed JPG ready is nice if I'm doing snapshots for a family event so I can just give them the pictures right there and usually turn out acceptable for that purpose. And honestly, I'm not going to run out of space. :v:
For those who didn't understand before. This is a wired connection on my router: http://puu.sh/9DMqS if I use the wireless in almost any way, it completely shuts down for like 2-3 minutes. I cant' login to the router or connect to the internet at all. And it's giving me like 2.5/2. And for those saying "huhuh wireless sucks though" about a month ago I got maybe 20ms ping 60/10 just like the speedtest. It's not wireless' fault its the radios or something in this. But I'm so tired of messing with it, going to pitch a new router purchase to my dad. And I thought maybe my wifi adapter might be bad, but I played 4 hours of BF4 off my mobile hotspot with no issues. Even roughly the same ping.
have you tried doing a speed test on your phone..
IBM, why would you do this?
I wonder what that is? I feel silly for asking.
From what I've read also is that 24 bit audio is not worth it for the end user, 16 bit pretty much has the human hearing range covered.
I think you may be confused with the difference between bit depth with sample rate. 16/24/32 Bit will effect dynamic range. Sample rate affects the frequency domain and, due to the Nyquist-shannon sampling theorem, the maximum frequency that can be represented. To "Cover the human hearing range" you technically only need 40Khz sampling rate, but because of the way DACs work you need a low pass filter on the output. This LPF will incur certain sonic characteristics due to its slope so at 40khz these errors can lie within the range of human hearing, hence we use 44.1Khz as the bog standard sampling frequency. At 44.1Khz we can sample up to 22.05khz without sampling errors and because we have some frequency space above the hearing range our DACs LPF can operate without imparting errors onto the signal. I have heard other stories about why 44.1 came about such as developmental decisions, storing the audio data on standard video tape as that was the technology of the time. Going beyond these sample rates shouldn't impact the consumer of the material, however, during mixing, processing and other audio tomfoolery having the extra samples can make certain mathematical operations and DSP nonsense more accurate.
