CRT whine comes from the line-output transformer (Also known as the flyback transformer) and is usually only audible in displays with a low refresh rate such at TVs (Especially here in the UK where our line frequency is lower than in the US).
Computer displays have a higher refresh rate which puts the scan frequency above your hearing range.

And the older you get, the less likely you can hear it due to age related hearing damage. My parents thought I was crazy when I was a kid that I could hear a high pitched whine from the TV.
My plasma whines. But I feel that it's because it's slowly dying since it's 8 years old.
CRT whine is literally worse than a screaming baby because its always there. And just when you manage to tune it out (at the cost of a massive headache), it changes just enough for you to notice it again.

ain't that depressing
Gonna try playing BeamNG on this lappy.
If this can play it without a lagfest then this will be best lappy.
I miss CRT whine, also the static electricity.
that crackling noise when the CRT has lots of dust on it while being turned on, so satisfying

I can still hear coil whine loud and clear. I was told it would probably fade in a few years when I was 14. Then when I was 18 or so, my doctor said it was weird, and most of my friends couldn't hear within 3k of me. I'm in my mid 20s, and 19k is as clear as ever. Coil whine is substantially lower than that usually. For better or worse I don't see that particular ability fading anytime soon.

So much this. I get tension in my neck, and headaches, if I have to be around 19-21kHz tones for a long time. I can ignore 17k and lower noises, though they are very annoying if there are multiple tones.
You know those ultrasonic gadgets they use to keep bats out of barns and stuff? Yeah. I can confirm. They fucking hurt. I definitely understand why bat's won't go anywhere near them.

This is officially best lappy.
Hi from Windows 8, and my screen tearing issue is completely gone. Get hype.
Thought I accidentally erased the bootloader and hard-bricked my Nexus 7.
Thankfully it just didn't want to boot into recovery for a while.
FYI: Don't erase the OS and the Recovery image.
anyone know why this might be happening? I'm not running out of memory, but apparently I am at the same time.

this only happens with Titanfall. I suspected samsung's rapid mode first but I've disabled it with no improvement
Can someone test this for me?
Go on overclock.net with firefox and adblock plus enable and tell me if it freezes on you too.
Because when i have adblock enabled on that website my firefox freezes.

Weird though that my firefox freezes when it goes on overclock.net with adblock plus enabled.

i replaced the fan in my PSU (yate loon D12SH-12) with a gentle typhoon 1800RPM
this was the best idea i've had in a long time. the rest of my system is so quiet that the old fan was sticking out like a sore thumb and now everything is silent
...except now all i can hear is the HDD :(

Ever since Belkins purchased them they went back to external antennas on all the models and released this thing.
Belkins got game going on
External antenna are mandatory on any router I purchase.
External antenna are mandatory on any router I purchase.
You know how many times at micro center I told customers get external antennas, All they did was point at linksys routers THESE ARE GOOD CAUSE LINKSYS RIGHT? and i tell them it's literally just a wire at the back of the router inside that's your antenna, thats it nothing more.
They pick it up and go home and come back "IT DIDNT WORK GOOD NO RANGE"
a fucking fifty doller tp-link router with external antennas gave better and and speed then the hundred dollar linksys.
Glad i left there though now, tired of dealing with that samething every day.
