When we brought in our 2003 Motorola digital cable box to our cable company to get it replaced this year due to horrible slowness and graphical glitches (you could watch it render the UI and bugged fonts every so often), they actually told us these had been retired from service like 6 years ago and its amazing this one lasted as long as it did.

It seems like TVs now are trying to cut out the old analog inputs. My 19" Toshiba from 2009 has more analog inputs then our fairly nice and newer 46" Samsung. 2 component, two composite/svideo, and vga vs 1 combined composite/component input and I don't think even has VGA, just 4 HDMI inputs.[/QUOTE]

Why the fuck we continue to use these is beyond me, they are a major source of interference and is especially so for HD broadcasts. Satellite and Cable over here have long switched over to using F connectors and hell everything in a terrestrial TV setup uses F-connectors except the TV connector so it is hardly like if we suddenly switch over we won't have anything to connect a TV with.

that is still the (only?) way to get tv broadcasts over here
never seen anything else than antenna cables on tv's
