I don't really see their practicality in today's standards. They were rather unreliable, and are much slower compared to higher end flash memory nowadays.

I already have a 3tb HDD with the contents of a nearly full 1tb on it, already used 798gb in nearly three months on ripping Blu-Rays and DVDs. By comparison my Steam folder is around 650gb and has taken four years to get to that size.

actually i think it's just the breaker being way too sensitive, it's the only breaker i've ever had problems with, its always tripped frequently
