The worst thing about Adblock on Chrome is how it works - the ads get downloaded, stored into memory, page load finishes and then Adblock gets to hide them.
That's just how addons work on Chrome, but it's still shit.
So my boss hates tearing down ASUS ROG laptops, and we got two of them in for jack replacements. It's the little things in life that make it worth it.

So what else could i use to block ads?

Screw the G53 / 73 ROG series for that stupid DC jack that fails if you so much as look in its general direction.
I was watching the WorldCup with my dad today, and he was petting the dog.
"I think maybe I'll get him stuffed when it's all over."
"Um... alright"
You should get him this.

NoScript on Chrome will also suck since it also will not be able to manipulate the page before document.ready is reached.
Either be tortured by Chrome's addon system, or switch to Firefox.
If you have plenty of CPU and RAM to waste, Chrome/Chromium isn't too bad of a choice in this scenario.

My Father insists he is to be stuffed when he dies. He wants to be a conversation piece since he's a people person.

i was actually talking about Firefox. ATM IE 11 seems to be the best on the ASUS T100, the only Thing i dislike is that it doesnt make the Video go automatically to the highest quallity.
Using a basic hosts file adblock seems to work quite well anyway as long as you keep it updated
I don't know why I never tried it considering I use Ad-Away on my phone but it is better than nothing

Nothing like using SFTP to download all your games from your laptop HDD haphazardly connected inside a server.

My 8 year old Linux laptop has BF3 and 4 files on it. Only purpose was to move the them between remote PCs via SFTP.
I personally only allow one file to download at a time as it seems to run faster.
Man my crippled memory makes remembering some of this programming shit difficult. Wish it wasn't.
I've found that I can't even try to memorize stuff, nothing stays in.
If I want to learn something, I have to understand it.
I really wish I hadn't decided at one point to learn how the graphics systems in Linux work, I'll never regain those brain cells.
Same here. No memorization happens. Some medical bullshit. Makes parts of my job very difficult

im not seeing that at all
im not seeing that at all
It uses a lot more ram than you'd expect (60-70MB) but past that, it's really pretty light. It occasionally spikes to 1% CPU usage on page loads, as per Chromes task manager. That's testing on both a Youtube vid (which I never use adblock on anyway, support the fucking creators.) and IGNs website because they like ads a lot.
There's a good blog post on how ABP affects memory use.
ABP on IE 11 does not seem to use much memory at all, it is around 300 mb with 6 tabs open and youtube in the background.

i told them about the nexus 5
Come back after stargazing for two or three hours, melted plastic smell in the room, computer is off and wont turn on.
Something awful has happened here.
I suspect the power supply, and the best case scenario is that there was a power surge that blew a fuse in the PS, which should be pretty easy to replace.

That can't be it, a fuse doesn't smell.
Maybe it was a wire connection somewhere that got loose after years of vibration, caused a short and blew a fuse. Something like that could very well melt some insulation causing a smell.

I use the hosts file now and i have 60 MB less being used now.
To block video ads you could use Magic Actions for youtube and tick the block video ads.

Hot plastic smell is more than likely a blown capacitor
My previous PSU failed with a POP when the huge D-Cell battery sized 500v capacitor blew

notepad please
this usually only happens when you open a large file since Notepad thinks it can just straight up load every file ever into memory
