[QUOTE=lekkimsm;45277059]Well, i'd say it looks like one i need.
But am i stupid for asking what the hell "cable polarity made for JangleBox, some Fulltone pedals, some Moogerfooger" Is supposed to mean?[/QUOTE]
They're guitar effects pedals, they get power from these adapters. Some pedals use batteries, some use actual plugs like this. Buttsex Vwhatevernumberhesonnow would be able to explain better.
Thanks anyway mate. I'll look into it later today!
Gonna see if I can install Kubuntu on my Nexus 7 tomorrow, I tried doing it earlier tonight but it's more difficult than the instructions suggested.
[QUOTE=Protocol7;45276258]They're useless. They can't even zone off the store correctly by me. It's like, normal retail SOP to take note of which customers have already been helped so you don't overwhelm them. At any of the 3 Best Buy's relatively close to me, you're lucky if every employee not on the store floor doesn't ambush you before you leave.
I'm like, not only am I a giant nerd, I'm an avid Slickdealer. I know what the hell I set foot in your store for. Fuck off.[/QUOTE]
And yet when you want someone, nobody is around.
Best Buy is the worst. A friend of mine was there to grab a new bluray player a few years ago, and I tagged along because he'd picked me up on the way over to his place. We ended up getting harassed by this one employee who wanted to sell a bunch of other shit (monster cables and warranties mostly). He kept asking us about the warranty while checking out, and kept dragging out the checkout process.
At least 3 minutes later, at the point where he punched something in wrong (probably deliberately) and had to reenter the stuff my friend just lost it. He threw the box on the countertop hard enough to pop the tape off, shouted something along the lines of "you useless sack of shit. If I wanted your goddam warranty, I would have told you the first time you asked. Go fuck yourself" at the top of his lungs. The guy jumped back several feet and turned absolutely white. He must have thought he was about to get a beating or something. The whole store went quiet for at least 30 seconds as my friend stormed out.
I managed to contain myself until we got outside, and then I actually had to sit down on the sidewalk I was laughing so hard. My friend's comment along the lines of "This isn't fucking funny" definitely didn't help.
How can you not know what the fucking power button is on your computer?
You expect me to believe that in the 5 years you've owned it, you have never ONCE had to turn the fucking thing on after a shutdown/power outage?
Don't best buy actually punish their employees if they don't reach a quota of...whatever, stuff? Like warranties or what have you?

Idiot Family Member Story Time! Gather 'round kids
So my mom's had an S3 for the past two years, its been pretty shit I'll just say. Touchwiz, shitloads of apps running all the time, grainy screen, battery that barely has an hour of screentime, freezes and crashes, etc.
She got fed up with some sort of glitch where repeatedly, her downloads would keep showing up in notifications on loop, and her phone took about 5 minutes to go the photo after taking a picture, and shit would slow down all the time, so last night she decided she'd "back up her stuff and reset to stock and put it back on"
Not a bad idea right? Except that I had no idea that she did it, literally never told me. Of course, she's still using Touchwiz Jelly Bean, doesn't have google account saving contacts or photos or anything (though I did get her set up to auto photo syncing with dropbox), but she used of all things, fucking Samsung Kies to "back up" her contacts and "photos and movies". Of course she doesn't really know lickety fucking split about Android so she thinks she's in the clear and resets to factory (why) and puts her stuff back on there.
Then she calls me today and she's like, "I need help with my phone please". As usual I go to help her and she tells what she did and I just facepalmed for a solid minute. Shes all upset over how she lost all her text messages and settings and app settings and customizations and everything. I told it to her like it was, she was SOL. Her contract's up next week so I'm pressuring her to get a G2 and I told her I'd root it, install recovery, custom not-shit rom, make it so her contacts and shit automatically sync, have automatic backup of stuff, etc if she did. She asked about the S5 and basically told her that if she got an S5 I'm not sure what I could really do to help her and she'd basically be on her own
tldr: computer illiterate person who thinks they know things, does things and shit goes down the drain
I ended up in the middle of invalid memory once. It was really dark and cold.

Why didnt she have a google account?
Also i would never give a rooted device and custom rom to a non power user.
Also on jelly bean , i dont know if they fixed it in kit kat, but after a while your device would become slower and slower.
Also to tech illiterate people i would only recommend iphone or a budget windows phone, because most of these people dont seem to be able to navigate android as easily, at least thats what i have learned.
so you all remember that ipod classic i had with the "failing" hard drive
well i just found it, and have been bringing it back into commission. so far i've copied over all of lacuna coil's studio discography and the smart data hasn't been getting any worse, so i'm going to see if it stays OK as long as I don't drop it or some such thing
if anyone asks you for an example of "toying with fate", i'm your man.

Fixed my keyboard :D :D :D
Gave up on soldering a new mini usb port and just used some GPIO cables and a mini usb cable to replicate it.
I'm definitely going to be looking at that G2 if I get this raise at work. I regret getting this s4

If you can get the windows to respond to touch, let me know. I'd love to get mine back on linux but it seems as if every DM/DE has some sort of issue with it and I don't know linux well enough to fix it.
I bought my first xbox360 at bestbuy. Theyt tried sooo hard to get me to get an exended warranty. I did my research and made sure I got the newest revision that had all the bugs worked out. It still works like 6 years later, but the cd drive died. :C
i bought a "Samsung 2A AC wall charger" from a chinese phone shop. Never again.
It does fucking 1A, not 2A.
[QUOTE=Levelog;45276219]I once asked where the display port cables were at a best buy and the guy pointed me to the HDMI cables about 5 times before shugging his shoulders and leaving. The second employee kept asking me "displayport to what?" Because apparently displayport is just a weird output that needs an adapter[/QUOTE]
To be fair, everytime I deal with DisplayPort, I need an adapter. This is both annoying and great at work because a nice chunk of the machines already have DisplayPort and VGA for dual monitors. Problem is actually getting the adapters and cables. :v:
Anyone know of a good wifi hotspot android app? Or has verizon figured out more ways to block it out?
Would rooting and flashing a rom allow me to use my phone as a hot spot? Right now whenever I try to turn on tethering or the hot spot settings it tells me I dont have that plan.
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
LG G2 on sprint
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
Ive got unlimited data damn it
Oh it'll deffinitely void my warranty, if its not reversible, but 3 months in and I dont have any issues yet. Kinda blows tethering is blocked though. Also I can upgrade my phone next year, which I plan on doing since its an option that comes with the unlimited data plan.
Had a similar problem a couple minutes ago, Foxfi fixed that.
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
It apparently doesn't even need to be rooted.

Yeah, I'll need to go buy some , should be ok for now.
Well, if you just wrap all the bare wires around each other, you don't have to worry about matching up the connections!
How much would you buy a Dell inspiron 1420 with win 8 on it for?
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
Model mumber pp26l, not 100% sure, but I think its only got a 1.5ghz c2d
Like 30 bucks. Maybe 50 if it was in great shape.

Although a benefit is that it is not one of the N5010 style as far as replacing the HDD goes.
I have a phone interview with Go Daddy.
Help.

Yeeeah. A guy I know is trying to sell it for $150. I don't need a laptop, so I probably won't buy it, but he's about as computer illiterate as they come and anyone that might buy it from him will probably be too. From the grainy pictures, it looks almost brand new. If i got the win 8 key and discs i'd be all over that

So if they ask about cookies I'll just say Al Gore ate them all?
