There's some kind of weird reaction going on with the front panel on my Define R3, the marks can't be cleaned off.
Finger Prints and Aluminum don't go together nice.
i would put my secondary monitor in portrait mode but i like watching tv on it and that looks weird in portrait.
I wish I had a second monitor
I have the monitors, I just don't have the desk space.
i would never put my primary monitor in portrait. viewing 16:9 content would be terrible

well you could always build a desk.
Mount the monitors on the walls if your desk is near a wall.
I made and snuck a little something onto my dad's Garmin before we headed off to Vegas for vacation.

3m 20 pound mounting tape means your monitors can overhang your desk and you can slam into them all day long without them coming off
from personal experience of ramming into my left monitor every single morning

Daaaaaamn.
So I guess my OC can handle x264 for 8 hours but not 30 minutes of SC2. Damn those single threaded games
Getting a liquid cooler for a processor that you aren't gonna OC very well on with a motherboard that doesn't OC either(chipset restrictions) is cash you don't really need to spend.
sure it will work and fit just fine but the cooler isn't really needed
But my processor gets pretty hot when I render videos. Unless I have nothing to worry about.

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/steam-linkfilter-bypass/
Chrome: https://github.com/horsedrowner/BypassLinkfilter/tree/chrome-ver
For chrome you'll have to install it as an unpacked extension (Because I'm not paying $5 to put it on the fucking chrome store.)
The reason to use this one instead is instead of just waiting for the page to load and having the script click the button (which isn't how I'd do it anyway), this intercepts the page load before it's even loaded and redirects to the page you were going to anyway.
It means it works when Steam goes down and it's much faster.
Horsedrowner originally made the FF one and I remade it for Chrome.
Just installed the Chrome version in Opera and it works great. Thank you!
Using iTunes on Windows 7 makes me want to pull my hair out, it's so slow.
Why use it for anything under any circumstance ever?
It's worth going through the headache of setting foobar up to work with an ipod (if you have one) just so you don't have to use that bloated piece of chunk spewing filth.
I'm actually really wishing I hadn't bought the $350 monitor with no inputs and maybe saved for something that can actually play a fucking ps3. I just ordered the ratchet and clank collection and I shouldn't have to leave my room to relive my childhood. I also don't feel like jury rigging a kvm and dvi-d to hdmi adapter just to get shit quality video on this monitor
For some reason this old Sony laptop had the Web cam up side down on Skype but if I go onto the Skype preview in the settings it's correct side.
I'm going to assume most of you know about Open Broadcaster Software (or OBS for short), it's a free recording / streaming program which is really well optimized and flexible. It's also open source, as the name implies.
Anyhow, I noticed suddenly that they've added Nvidia NVENC support, which is the same sort of [del]black magic[/del] hardware encoding thingamajig ShadowPlay uses.
So if you have a new-ish Nvidia card, and you were ever disappointed in the limited options ShadowPlay provided, there's now an option that runs equally well and is way more flexible!
If you don't have an Nvidia card, OBS works better than anything else anyways. (In my experience)

For AMD users, I record using Dxtory and the AMD equivalent of Shadowplay. The OpenEncodeVFW Encoder using AMD APP/VCE codecs work really well for me.

Well, sure. Dxtory is nice if you manage to get it working.
But codecs (other than h.264) and I don't go well together, they tend to be disobetient around me.
Dxtory just stopped working for me eventually, and i never managed to find a working codec for it.
Also, nice that there is an AMD equalivent. I wonder if OBS will support that in the future.

have always been slightly disappointed in how there's literally no way to configure the codec or any options in Shadowplay, so this is pretty cool. what about the "shadow" of shadowplay though? OBS doesn't have a similar function right?
My room still smells like burnt router after I plugged in the wrong power adapter for it.

While awesome, it's not a new fewature. NVENC has been in OBS for a while now. And it's not that much more flexible. The actual encoding options are basically just a number for how efficient it runs. Highest quality still will be pretty meh.

You can't configure it because that's why it's so fast. It's mostly just a fixed function H.264 encoder. It's encoding is basically hardwired into the chip.
I changed my crappy graphics card to a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640.

I don't know why but using a gopro and it's wifi capabilities near my nexus 5 for controlling and viewing doesn't work at all. It only connects when my phone is some distance away from the gopro and once connected, it disconnects whenever my phone goes closer. Either the wifi signal is too strong or my nexus 5 wifi is being faulty and stupid or the gopro is being stupid.
I should get a gopro, played around with it for a short while, test shots looked cool, too bad I couldn't use it for something cool, simply a missed opportunity, bad timing and leaving stuff for people to watch as they leave and never come back until well after the moments...
Whoever suggested using all their primary monitors in portrait mode should be banished to the lands of tech support hell. No thank you I don't want to gouge my eyes out at forced vertical video syndrome.
The only good use for a portrait mode monitor would be that Valve issue tracker that contained Source 2 hints that ReaverXai leaked. That's about it.
