or a not shoddy 1080p guaranteed 120hz monitor
Honestly, after using 1440p for awhile, it would really be hard to go back to 1080p. It feels tiny in comparison for general desktop use. I'll stick with 60 hz 1440p panels for the utility. I don't have the hardware to properly drive 120 hz.
But I agree, I would stick with a 120 hz 1080p panel if 120 hz is important to you.
or that. anything is better than those cheap korean monitors
or that. anything is better than those cheap korean monitors
The ones that were all the craze when 2560x1440 started getting popular?
One really big problem with those korean monitors is that a majority of them are "bypass models", meaning it doesn't have a build in OSD board and requires the GPU to literally do everything, and thus requiring a DVI-D port. This pretty much means I can't use the monitors on laptops or any computers that doesn't have native DVI-D ports.

Interestingly, the Monoprice one I have does have the more modern luxuries like an OSD and built-in scaler along with VGA. To take full advantage of it though, you still need DVI-D or a GPU/cable capable of driving 1440p over VGA.
Got an Xbox. Fuck controllers are awkward to pick up after playing with mouse and keyboard for so long.
It's not a true 120Hz monitor though, just a 60Hz overclockable to 120hz.
They check the panel during assembly, and make sure it can run at 120Hz, apparently.
But I don't own one, or have access to one, so I can't test one out.
Ive found skyrim is pretty relaxing on the couch with a controller

Is DVI-D really the only way? My primary monitor is DP. Sorry if this is stupid, monitors are not something I've taken the time to learn too much about

You need to read the specifications of these different korean monitors to get your precise answer. Some of the more premium models with "ad-board" do have DP, which you can get full 1440p from it instead of DVI-D.

I'm think he's referring to DVI-DL, at least my Catleap whatever required it. Honestly I simply cannot recommend the cheap Korean ones unless they have a competent OSD. A friend of mine had a U2711, a phenomenal monitor. His OSD was almost certainly worth the extra $300 or so above the Catleap. I needed to get a custom GPU color profile to make it look any good, and even then it wasn't nearly as good. Just go with a reputable brand instead of the Korean ones, unless you're a fan of gambling.
Did anyone happen to drop by on my stream? Did 5 hours of MetroLL. Had the new facecam with greenscreen. I thought it looked and sounded fantastic.
And the problem with custom colour profiles is unless you're on AMD, most games will reset it unless you use software to force it on
There's a chance that I'm getting someone on /g/ to apply Windex to his screen.
I honestly can't remember if Windex caused any major damage, but I couldn't remember the name of any strong, popular solvents that fuck up things, and he asked if Windex is fine.

I never use Windex/Windolene on any of my systems.

Windex is fine on glass, like a CRT, but pretty much all consumer LCDs have a little plastic thing protecting any glass inside, a solvent should theoretically eat away the plastic.
Just depends on how strong of a solvent you've got.
At least that's my working theory.
I just use a coffee filter to clean off my screen
I was there. It looked slightly frame droppy. But it was fine and it was really good.
edit frame drop might have been my internet shitting itself
Yea, no dropped frames on my end. It's between Twitch and the viewer. I was also streaming 2.25mbps, which is a bit high for some people. but the end result looks fantastic. I was very happy with how the experience was visually. Sound was also great. I think my months or testing paid off.

waw
Apparently the thing he was trying to clean out just "got brighter".
Requested a picture, probably won't get one.
I was hoping it would flat-out fuck up the surface, so the bottom half of his screen would be unusable.

You're an evil person.
I like this.
what's the hip anti virus these days? I haven't used an anti virus for yeeaars, and the last one I used was trend micro. I've had malwarebytes, but as far as I know, it's not really an anti virus and you should use an anti virus next to it

I clicked that link and noticed that it just buffered away, and holy shit, Twitch has no buffering speed limit it seems.

Find a mechanical pencil with the same or similar size lead as the pin, you can slip the pin inside and gently straighten it out
works on old CPU pins
