they're waddling in the right direction. There'es still hope.
I am somewhat surpised that this 5 year old sony laptop can handle HD video editing using Canon 45Mbps H.264 HD video on Sony Vegas 13.

not like this is the big proper source 2 release
for all we know it's some super-legacy mode only where it artificially sucks as much as source 1
Alright, I've been struggling to find a good laptop for around $800 that'll do well with light gaming and video production.
I was looking at the Lenovo Z710 and it was the top choice. I'm sure you guys have much better suggestions though and I'd love to hear them.
Would prefer not to use newegg because of the sales tax for Indiana residents.
I'm upgrading from basically an HP Toaster mark 3 so anything would be better than that.
The contenders so far:
MSI GP60/70 (over budget but an example of the specs I want)
Lenovo Z710
ASUS X550LNV-NB51
I basically need something for school + video editing + l33t gaming.

A budget would be handy.
He said $800 at the beginning of his post.

That's not Source 2, that's just new modding tools for DOTA 2. The Hammer thing is even tile based, what good would that be for an FPS?

SHIT
Ok I completely missed that.

source 1.(9) aka the one between source 1 and 2.
it is a backwards-compatible version of 2, something that they ported dota 2 over to show that it works.

Ezhik, how many tabs do you have.
Ezhik, how many tabs do you have.
i had like 15 open i think
it was probably the dev tools that did this
i maintain 53 open chrome tabs at all times. my computer has been on fire for a week straight.
I do 10 tabs max..
I'm usually up to the point where tabs stop having icons, bookmarks are overrated and i might need that later

It's baseline 4.1. Not too surprising.
My laptop (ULV i5) only has trouble with Vegas when there's a lot of effects put on a video.
And if I ever need more performance out of it, I can make a video proxy file to speed things up. It's pretty neat.

This question tho. I'm not finding much and I really need to find one soon.

Now I'm looking at this Sager. Seems to be the best option available. I've been turned away from the z710 because of all the negative feedback towards Lenovo in general. Plus the price is about the same as the lenovo would be with shipping and tax anyway.
