Okay then, what's your idea of a low profile jack?
Collpasible socket:

It's much more durable and eye pleasing than the xjack

My friend wants to get a computer, but doesn't want to build one. He's looking to spend around £800 and he wants dual monitors as well.
Any recommendations?

Now that is quite useful. I forgot those existed.
Didn't a MacBook Air have something similar?
It has a flip-down panel. Ethernet was always a USB ordeal.

Had*. Apple has moved all ports to the side ever since the second generation of the Macbook Air.
I know someone who had the first version of the macbook air, and this flap was pretty annoying.
Unless it was an identical chipset, mainboard swaps usually result in a bluescreen.
i went from P67 to Z77 with no issues on Win8

You're right. I forgot about that too. Still, Ethernet is a USB ordeal.

We already discussed that 8 is built differently than the previous versions and is less prone to bluescreen on major hardware swaps.
oh boy
I spilled orange juice on my laptop and now the keyboard doesn't work
I wrapped it in a towel and I'm gonna leave it overnight, hopefully it's fixed tomorrow
the laptop is perfectly fine
rip mouse though (it was a shitty $20 dollar razer mouse so w/e)
Razer saved PC gaming for you by dying for your laptop
I honestly wish Laptops would have at least one thunderbolt port. They're perfect for eGPUs.

This is the main reason why my next laptop will probably be a MacBook, although I can easily hold out until the next gen.
i still call it a bios
uefi is such trash, often laggy, no standard in keyboard shortcuts and some stuff requires a mouse
fuckin secure boot too
It really depends on the motherboard maker. I've had a pretty good experience with ASUS UEFI menus.
Also Secure Boot being included really shouldn't be an issue to anyone, just disable it. In fact Microsoft requires all new Windows 8 PCs to have the option to disable Secure Boot.
You're right. I forgot about that too. Still, Ethernet is a USB ordeal.
Still, you can get a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter, so you don't have to worry about the USB overhead, whereas on my Sony with no port I have to have the CPU usage hit of USB3 Ethernet adapter.
I tried to use a tablet to document cases and stuff, back when I was in helpdesk and did internal on-site support.
That day I learned 3 things:
1. Expectation != Reality
2. A Tablet can't replace Pen and Paper, even if the tablet has a digital pen.
3. A Tablet can't replace a Laptop, even for doing simple documents.
I tried to do that with a friends Nexus 7 2013, drawing/writing stuff was hard because my hand would mess up the touchscreen from the pen, the pen was pretty shit, I tried using a keyboard and it was better but it was two things to carry around, set up and teardown (as in stuff in my backback) instead of one, I tried using mouse input but scrolling on several apps didn't work with the mouse input. The screen was kinda too small if it was set up on the desk, the iPad didn't really do any better too.
Like for basic document stuff, browsing the internet, I was able to get away with that. I did manage to log data into a spreadsheet using Google Drive and SwiftKey keyboard for a chemistry lab which worked out fine and it was ok.
Trying to type up notes on a touch screen keyboard kinda sucks.

If you want to use internal LCD, you must buy a Macbook that doesn't have discrete graphics though. Apple is a retard and instead of using the standard nVidia Optimus, they use their own hardware to switch the graphics. The Intel IGP isn't available to Windows at all because of so.

I'm well aware of this nonsense, however the when the alternative is not to have a Thunderbolt port at all, even a MBP with a dGPU seems a better option than anything else.
If you're doing work, get a laptop, tablets are for dicking around.

you can dick around and do work on either, it's just that it's so much harder to get work done sometimes on tablets..

It's the same anywhere else, you can't download apps from the Play store without a Google account... not from iTunes without an Apple ID, and so on.
so uh guys, if your parents are extremely religious, and then ask you to be straight up honest about what what you believe
don't be straight up honest about what you believe if its probably not what they want to hear
basically got shunned and disowned, moving out on the 24th, 90% won't be having my car anymore

Tablets are optimal dicking-around devices, I browse Reddit etc. on my Nexus 7 2013 constantly, in bed.

Actually it's for battery life and performance reasons. Kepler sucks at compute, while also sucking away your battery.

I never understood people like this. you can't magically make someone believe in something else, so you're kinda stuck with either lies or the truth

all of luck to you by the way, hope everything goes smoothly for you

Thankfully a majority of religion extremities dies with our generation. Hope things will work out with you soon

It helps people to have something to believe in. God knows, it's helped me. The problem comes when people try to force others to believe. That's not okay. The same as its not okay to berate people over their honest religious views. So I'd appreciate you not calling me a gullible nonsense believer, thanks.
Asshole.
