There used to be a thing called Game Companion that did that but I can't find it anymore.
Oh man, I completely forgot to post this.
So I headed in to work early today to do some prep work for a go-live. I get in first, which has never happened before. Hook up my laptop, VPN into the cloud and SSH into our main app server.
Huh. That login took a while. What's the load?
For those who don't know, Linux load averages go from 0.0 (zero load) up, with 1.0 being one core fully utilized but not lagging behind, 2.0 being two cores, etc. They can go above that if the system is overloaded.
In this case, it was at 930. On a single-core app server, so that's 930 on a scale of 0 to 1.
I spewed out every expletive I knew, invented a few more for good measure, then started killing off processes left and right. Then I spent most of the day figuring out that what *had* been a "wait for I/O interrupt" loop had turned into a "busy-wait on the CPU until you have input" loop when I made a change somewhere completely different.
Oops?
I wish more games supported it, since it's my favourite way of running games. Is there a way to force it in games that don't support it?
if the game has a windowed mode you can use Gamers Window Relocator and your native resolution to situate it in the right place
We got new computers at work. Intel i5-4570's and 8 GB of RAM.
They only need to run a web frontend for our POS system and Outlook 2013.
Well, I guess you can't complain about too much power when your not paying for it. v:v:v

Also I've only had my ASUS N66U for 4 hours and I've already soft bricked it. I fucked up trying to flash DD-WRT so I'm trying to flash back to stock to try again.
Why does this router take nearly 40 minutes to flash a 24 MB firmware in recovery mode. Like seriously what the fuck is it doing. Lining up all the bits by hand?

There's just something about a black screen with consolefont on a consumer device that just makes you feel excited.
I love this one because it looks like either a model from a futuristic early seventh gen game, or a prop from a futuristic movie made at some point after the iphone came out
What was crazy about black screens with text was installing 3.71 M33.
It literally reflashes all the modules and dumps the output to the console like that. It's always super fun to mess with consumer electronics, and especially programming on the PSP was interesting.
i just got an email from my state senator in response to me bitching about the FCC's fuckup of net neutrality
clearly this email was intended to arrive shortly after my initial bitch
Got 80 bucks today. To blow it on my desktop or save it for a laptop? And if desktop, what to buy?
How would I do that? Regardless I don't think it'd work well. I have a big house .
I'd get an access point but that'd be too much work
Try to get into the wifi routers settings, refer to the manual.
Usually it is in the Advanced setting or something similar.

I turned off a laptop running Windows 8.1 and it was doing it's updates. Once the screen was off and the actual laptop itself was off I left it. I press the power button and I see this

Welp I guess everything was fixed.
Every week my 8.0 laptop updates then fails and takes an age rolling back.
There's a known fix but I haven't got round to doing it yet.
Well Google Drive took forever, but it's working fine now. It does no checksum I guess so it has to download everything. Also either both my router's 2.4ghz signals suck ass or it's my wifi adapter. Moving to 5ghz got my speeds back up.

This is so sad coming from a 100/100 connection. Apparently they're doing some maintenance so people had to be moved to a slower network.
EDIT: Can't even stream 1080p video on Youtube without the video stopping for buffering.
Rip CIPWTTKT IRC channel, inactive at times but nice when used.
Edit 2:34pm: Unrip.

At work, we've standardized on i7-4770, 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD and some low profile AMD GPU with dual displayports. Most users are doing office work.

It's not.
For fucks sake. Video Download Helper is broken again for most youtube videos. It's generating 0k files again.
In theory you can load it with something like half a terabyte of DDR4. :v:
