And yet, some modern TV controllers require you to aim really damn precisely at the receiver, or else it won't register.
So this was an enormous fucking mistake. Windows forgot to migrate my user account to the new 8.1 shit. So apps and, well, everything is fucked. So I have to do a refresh and try to hack together my system again. Fucking woo...
Do you use a Microsoft account? That + SkyDrive integration make anything like this a non-issue for me.
Do you use a Microsoft account? That + SkyDrive integration make anything like this a non-issue for me.
Of course I do. The problem was the apps. Nothing was upgraded. So it was trying to run all the old Windows 8 apps... which don't exist anymore. I couldn't even get to PC Settings. I've got everything back to normal now but jesus that was annoying.
Unsure if buying IDE SSD is worth it. I dunno maybe not.
I have a Thinkpad G40 lying around with a completely useless battery, is there any point in buying a £40 one from eBay just to make it portable again? I'd also like to put a different Linux distro on it as the Ubuntu installation is broken.

Works well when it works, but it explodes fantastically.

So I just received my DealExtreme branded Wi-Fi adapter which turns out to be using the RT5370 chipset. Is it possible to get this working somehow in Arch Linux ARM for the Raspberry Pi? I can get it on a wired connection if possible.
I was making waffles this morning and my mom randomly asked me. "Did you get that hundred dollar gift card for your birthday?" "No?" "WHAT!" Of course she sent it to the email I tell her I never use, so I found it, but still kind of frustrating on both sides. I've been wanting to afford a new XLR camera adapter for my camera, so I may hold onto it for a while.
My parents always send shit to my hotmail, which I opt to not use because it has my full name @ hotmail . com. Y'know, personal information and all that. The only two emails I use are my Live account which is a different email address, and my other 5 gmail addresses (all dedicated to categorize different types of spam) which all forward to my main gmail so I never have to log in to any others.
I use my name in my email cause it's easier for interviews/CVs etc.
I'm lame, I want to buy a electric kettle for my tea with my 50 dollars.
So this might be late as hell, but i found something out today When you get one of those DMCA notices in google results, there's always a link in it which i never bothered clicking before. Turns out it sends you to the actual DCMA request with all the originals URLs in it :v:
I've never not had an electric kettle.
I use my name in my email cause it's easier for interviews/CVs etc.
I have a gmail with first initial + last name for that purpose. Also my registered email for LinkedIn and stuff.
My coworker needs a video card upgrade. She just wants to run The Sims 3 and possibly The Sims 4 later. Any recommendations for a modest video card? She watches her budget all the time so I assume she's looking for something cheap.
Don't get a 210
I have an Operating System recovery disc for my Elitebook 2540p but it has no optical drive and I have no usb optical drive. Is there any way I can clone it to a flash drive and use that the same way? I'm looking to return the laptop to the seller I purchased it from on ebay so I want to restore it to factory settings basically. edit: Gonna try this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c01890478
I just spent ages trying to get my i3 that arrived today into my motherboard, and I spent ages trying to find out how to get the damn thing in. A bit later I realised that the CPU was an LGA1150 and the motherboard didn't support that, and in the process I destroyed half of the pins. I don't read specifications enough :suicide:

I fucking hate networking Last night I was playing a game of DOTA, about 10 minutes in I started experiencing a terrible lag. It was a stuttering lag instead of a delay, which is what I usually get. I checked my ping and it had only really risen by about 30ms, so it wouldn't make sense for that to cause a crippling network stutter. There was only one other person in the house awake at the time and they were just watching a YouTube video (which they had been doing since before I had gotten the lag). Beyond that the 30 Mbs I'm advertised should be fine for playing a game and streaming one YouTube video. So I went ahead and ran a speedtest while in game and got the usual results (30ms, 30Mbs download, 5Mbs upload). Still though I was receiving this terrible stutter even with a connection that tests fine. I eventually got fed up and tethered with my phone. My phones connection worked great and I had a better ping with it than I did before I started experiencing the lag. I ran a speedtest again with worse results than when I was connected to my home network (50ms, 5Mbs download, 1Mbs upload). This isn't the first time I've had this, I usually get lag thats just a delay, which is tolerable. And when I've run speedtests before I always get about the same results, even when lagging terribly in games. Though I usually just pass it off as something caused by the other people on my network, but now I'm starting to think there might be some other issues.

Now you just need an LGA1150 motherboard for your new CPU.
got free laptop from work. Can I finally join the thinkpad club? [t]http://a.pomf.se/gbgpjq.png[/t]

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/08/a-brief-history-of-usb-what-it-replaced-and-what-has-failed-to-replace-it/ Pretty good article on USB. Has details but makes sense for most people. I think USB from a consumer perspective is remarkably good. And USB2 did have real-world throughput problems, but USB3 just is superfast for me. I push 180megabytes per second on my USB3 drives.
It's not half bad, Of course I would of gone with Green and Black. Red and white isn't my color at all.
Should check out the RoboCop build. Just grey, but not red/white/black like every haswell build seems to be
i've got personal domain email
I have my own domain email as well, but the email manager software that it comes with blows. Wish I could install Outlook or something.
