I keep getting people telling me they like all my random hardware videos of me just talking about... hardware. I've wanted to do my general videos on some of my gear like my lenses, microphones, monitors, greenscreen and stuff.
I don't know what is "surprisingly interesting" and "interesting" or I'd do them.
We're getting moved to laptops at work... getting ThinkPads with an i7-4800MQ, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD... mmm.

That's what I have now. I will definitely miss the storage, though.
I fucking hate networking
Last night I was playing a game of DOTA, about 10 minutes in I started experiencing a terrible lag. It was a stuttering lag instead of a delay, which is what I usually get. I checked my ping and it had only really risen by about 30ms, so it wouldn't make sense for that to cause a crippling network stutter. There was only one other person in the house awake at the time and they were just watching a YouTube video (which they had been doing since before I had gotten the lag). Beyond that the 30 Mbs I'm advertised should be fine for playing a game and streaming one YouTube video. So I went ahead and ran a speedtest while in game and got the usual results (30ms, 30Mbs download, 5Mbs upload). Still though I was receiving this terrible stutter even with a connection that tests fine.
I eventually got fed up and tethered with my phone. My phones connection worked great and I had a better ping with it than I did before I started experiencing the lag. I ran a speedtest again with worse results than when I was connected to my home network (50ms, 5Mbs download, 1Mbs upload).
This isn't the first time I've had this, I usually get lag thats just a delay, which is tolerable. And when I've run speedtests before I always get about the same results, even when lagging terribly in games. Though I usually just pass it off as something caused by the other people on my network, but now I'm starting to think there might be some other issues.
Sounds like a jitter issue to me. Your bandwidth is fine, but information is being sent and received in bursts rather than a continuous stream. It may be an ISP/modem issue, but I'm not sure.

Wow. I just found out my supervisors son is a pro skateboarder. I already have tons of respect for the guy, he used to be a postmaster, then he retired and apparently got bored and started working here. Dudes like 68 and he rides a bike to work. We're like 10 miles outside of town. :v:

I stuffed them behind the back plate. So many cables I can barely put the side panel on my case.

Go here: http://dev.dota2.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 and try to find a pingable Valve IP address that is in the US (the gameservers aren't pingable). Then open up command prompt, and type this:
ping -t ip_addr
with the ip_addr as your US valve server pingable IP, and wait 30 pings or so than press Control-C. Then copy paste the result here
EDIT: If you doesn't find your US server IP because of its not in the sticky, use 8.8.8.8 instead

I'm so bad at cable management. I spent forever on my 750d, which is a case with excellent cable management, and it still just looks okay.

It could very well be my router, I rebooted it this morning and the firmware went corrupt and I had to reflash it. I have a spare router I'll be using to see if I ever have these issues again. Though it could have gone corrupt from me incorrectly updating the firmware in the past. And this isn't this first time I've had similar issues, it just been the worst.

It wasn't only effecting Dota 2 though, I was lagging in the TeamSpeak I was in too.
I had cable management up until a few days ago. had to remove the drive cages to fix the bent pins in my USB3 header, aaand when I put it back in there were cables everywhere and the LED power for the fans were nowhere to be found. no way I'm fixing those cables at this point
I have a 350d and a non-modular power supply and my cables look fine, the secret is to shove everything into the back first, then go from there
PSU in first. shove all the cables behind the try, motherboard in, plug things in, then tie them down to cable tie loops taught.
I found a program that can stream my entire desktop (and audio) to the PSP via WLAN, and send mouse/keyboard commands

I have an OEM (actually high grade not IED) 1000 watt PSU and it's not modular either. :(
i wish there was an easy way to get desktop notifications when my doorbell rings. even though its 5 feet away from my door i find i don't hear it with my headphones on and often rely on my cat waking up next to me if someone knocks on my door or if my doorbell rings.

I still don't see why they haven't done that yet. They've messed around with the layout a bunch, why can't they fix it now? Do people actually like having their laptop keyboard be inconsistent with literally every other one they deal with?
I was surprised to see the Fn key not where it usually is on every other laptop keyboard today at Staples..

School's AD server is down, so I can't login to the website and see when my school starts.
I hate when people don't think about shit like this when designing systems.

Better than OSU's system which intentionally turns off most student resources after midnight or something like that.
