Often for me it literally takes days for it to notice changes to files or new files added. So when I make changes to files I have to reboot the program.

If it's just a rented dedi more often than not you'll get IPMI (or alternative) but they just don't tell you, so always ask for IPMI access.

Have friend's boyfriend in the company who was basically as green as I am when he started and said it's worth it... Hoster provides KVM Cards, either on demand, or permanently for a fee.
I was interested in using HP iLO, but I couldn't get a HP Server.
Just calling my 24/7 tech, gets the problem sorted quickly.
