I was on BIOS 223, the newest version is 307. There are updates to the chipset, ATK driver, touchpad. Probably explains why this thing runs like shit.

It feels even cooler after you've spent 6 hours designing the PCB for a radio, and then you get to fuck with erosive acid, that sits inside a machine that shakes it so violently, it's bubbling constantly.
The gear you need for it, is really specialized though.
You need the copper board itself, pretty sure that's not too hard to get, but then you have to get a little briefcase UV-light source thing, that locks into place etc., so stuff doesn't move, those might be a pain in the ass to get, and then there's the damn acid, no idea where I'd start looking for the machine we use at school.

The thing I don't get about these is that unless you're less than 5.5" or so, there isn't much real improvement to the experience going bigger. Unless you're fucking a dragon dildo enthusiast anyways.

You don't need all of that. The UV light can be replaced by toner transfer or I am told a really long exposure under a regular light. With photoresist you need a developer too. Then a bath in ferric chloride (there are alternatives) will etch away the copper, this can be manually agitated. You can buy everything needed online.
