My graphics card is passively cooled, sadly it's an old geforce 210
Can we passively cool modern graphic cards?
oh hey we have the same graphics card :v:
The Geforce 210 is the General Motors Iron Duke of graphics cards.

I normally like car analogies but this one goes over my head :(
Explain?
Slow as shit but extremely reliable

And more common than grass
The amount of "gaming machines" with an i5 or i7 and an (6)10 or (7)20 depress me.

Since ya know, Intel HD 4600 graphics over double the passmark benchmark score of a gt 610.

Well shit, that's a deal fo sho.
So I have my Lenovo coming...
Are the 9-cell batteries worth it?

The Iron Duke is a disgusting piece of automotive drivel that had no reason whatsoever to be put into what could even be remotely marketed as a sports car but General Motors still shoehorned it into a handful for no apparent reason other than to save money. It was awful. It made almost no horsepower or torque and was often mated to the worst of the worst 3-speed automatic transmissions. Fuel economy was pretty poor too, compared to the power. It was also absurdly large displacement for its pathetic power output, 2.5 liters, which is actually pretty relevant to how large a GT210 is compared to integrated. Basically a nearly perfect analogy to Intel HD's normal Japanese 4-cylinder. Like the GT210, the Iron Duke still managed to sell in droves for some absurd reason, presumably ignorance.
The only problem with the analogy is unlike the GT210, the Iron Duke was also not particularly reliable, having a habit of vomiting flammable oil all over the searing hot engine block, with predictable results.

The GT 220 is more like the Ford Pinto/Fox Body 4cyl engine, still pretty pathetic, but able to at least able to pretend it's sporty.
I thought it was the v6 that caught fire?
I thought it was the v6 that caught fire?
Both Fiero engines liked to go up in smoke, but I've heard of Iron Dukes leaking lotsa oil in Camaros and a couple others I can't remember.
Talking about the Iron Duke prompted me to ask my dad about the worst engine he had ever experienced. Turns out, it was the one and only Iron Duke! An automatic Vega panel van. Didn't say it by name, but cast iron block, aluminum heads, pushrods, leaked everything, definitely an Iron Duke.
Behind an old automatic 90hp would god awful
[editline]30th August 2014[/editline]
My first car was a chrysler 2.5l, pretty much the same engine(or related to it) in SRT4 neons and PT crusier turbos, and it was awful behind that automatic transmission. Then I had a Nissan Sentra with a 1.8L engine making about the same horsepower with a Manual. It felt peppy, still slow, but peppy.

Wait is it the NA 2.4? Because yeah that's one slow and pathetic beast. My mom's first PT and my brother's both had it, I think. It's the reason my mom demanded a Turbo on the second one. Because there's no way a Sentra 1.8 made as much power as a 2.4T.
I mean, there's no reason the AMD Sentra made as many ghz as the Intel Core i4 PT Cruiser did. Computers general discussion, right guys?
No it was an 1989 2.5l K car :v:
I thought this was dick discussion?
[editline]30th August 2014[/editline]
Both made about 110hp
Am I measuring it wrong?!?!
Maybe~
What the fuck, my volume icon just disabled itself and it's completely greyed out. Yet my audio plays just fine.
Just going to ask quick just to make sure. Installing Windows 8.1 (again) and doing a clean install, it won't remove anything on my external HDD right?
Are you running DOS on a Microwave?
Cross posting from "Quick question", as I need some help for getting a new laptop.
I've been looking for a new laptop. The new semester we are starting and the following ones are some more hardware demanding courses we; We are talking Unity, Adobe Software (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator), Visual/Audio Computing, Image Processing & Programming.
I'm looking for a lightweight laptop, but one that can fulfil those hardware demands.
My question is, do you guys think an Ultrabook with Haswell chip and just build-in Intel HD GPU will do fine for those tasks?
It seems that if I want something lightweight then I've to give a ton of money if I also want an dedicated graphics unit.
Oh yeah, I won't really be gaming on it. As I keep that on my Desktop.
[editline]30th August 2014[/editline]
Also, if yes. Then I've been looking at Lenovo U330p/U430p. How would that be in terms of bang for buck?

Cross posting from "Quick question", as I need some help for getting a new laptop.
Assuming you mean Unity as in the game development stuff, you might want some sort of dedicated GPU.
I would recommend the ASUS UX32LN, small, portable, and decent but yet not massively expensive dGPU.
So last week I started cutting down on my consumption of sugary drinks.
Basically went from 100% Sugary drinks only to 100% Water only.
Holy shit my body didn't like that at all.
I go through most of a 6 pack of diet coke a day.
Its kinda sad.
Buy it in 2l bottles - you drink less of it and it's cheaper.
I've never drank an entire cup of soda in my life, I just don't like the taste, and I know I'm healthier for it

I'm used to drinking 2-4L of sugary drinks every day. The impact of switching to Tea and Water only is huge.
After a few days, I felt extremely exhausted. Like you slept for 10 hours straight but you feel like you just worked trough a 30 hour shift.

Wouldn't it be better to just slowly work off it?
Wouldn't it be better to just slowly work off it?
I tried to do that. The temptation has been high to return to. By strictly forbidding myself to drink any at all has been working so far.
The only drink I drink that has sugar in it currently is my coffee.
I live on 1€/1.5L soda from LIDL.
these are so delicious
