Wow. Just got an email from AMD's Raptr dealio telling me I should change my password "because of the recent heartbleed vulnerability"...a bit late isn't it?
I just can't believe AMD made a program more annoying than GeForce experience. (I really don't like programs coming with my drivers)
It is a sad day when me and my friends' server, working off a P3 450Mhz (at 550Mhz, WOO!) dies... It finally burned out. :c The glorious slot CPU, it will be missed.
Built a storage server ready for connecting 7 other SATA drives. i5-4460 3.2GHz quad-core haswell, 8GB RAM in 1 stick, 120GB 840 EVO SSD, MSI Z97S SLI Plus mobo, Antec 300 case. I guess I could route the visible cable stands under the mobo to make it even cleaner.
So recently I changed my phone plan and now it has unlimited SMS (before I had this stupid 2500 limit that was only text and the usage counter was stupid by over counting) with unlimited Picture and Video messaging, something I've never used but I'm sure it's the same as picture sending on hangouts or whats app and video sending on Telegram plus shitty old compression and file/resolution size limits. Although I probably won't be sending a whole lot of it via MMS anyways. I got more minutes per month that I will never get close to using, 6GB of data that I will actually use and Caller ID so I know who the hell is calling. Included is BYOD discount as I'm using my Nexus 5. I basically called up customer service which transferred me to retentions department which then transferred me to the back office to give me this. Many hours on the phone and some more phone calls later, I have all of this. Although I am still with Rogers, no other company would be even close to match the 6GB for $35 (which goes for $65/month in today's shitty Canadian Telecom markets) at the monthly price point and I guess they can't give stuff to new customers because I have no loyalty to Bell or Telus, even if I do have home phone and home Internet with Bell, they didn't give me shit. Anything on the website is what they can give apparently. Oh well, Rogers works. Oh and apparently the account is a business account. Mom got brand new Moto G LTE with $0 down payment, more minutes that she will ever use, caller ID, unlimited SMS/Picture/Video Messaging, 400MB of data that she will probably never use all of it. Apparently the plan is called the 400MB Loyalty Plan. A bunch of discounts and waived fees were included so the savings will be a lot. She is now learning to add contacts, send SMS and use What's App and use Android. I guess I stopped her from using iOS and getting an iPhone which wouldn't be $0 down payment anyways. Both numbers received unlimited data for a month, 12 months of discounts and some other stuff. Both two lines end up to be $120 including (Canadian tax) per month which is a much better deal that the $70-80 minimum that only gives you 500MB of data a month depending on carrier. Fido and Koodo did have more data that could have worked out for mom but it would cost more than her Rogers plan if adding a subsidized phone. Overall the plan that I was able to negotiate was probably the best that I could have got. I know other people that got sweeter deals but it's because they have more loyalty and have a massive business account under it. It was worth the 5 hours on the phone. TL;DR: got sweet new phone plans with data and everything by negotiating Now to work on my home Internet service, the 5/1 is meh but has 290GB usage that we never use (we use like 100GB) and it is still the time of back to school sales.
You pay for caller ID?
I kept on negotiating the plan and requesting the rep to find other options and stuff. It would have costed $3 a month but a different rep (who was awesome by finding a better, cheaper plan, throwing in unlimited data for a month [so I now have 4 months straight of unlimited LTE so far], waiving fees and what not) found a new plan that included caller ID, unlimited SMS and more. The old plan I did have was $25 without SMS and other features, the rep found a $30 plan that had more minutes, unlimited messaging, caller id, voice mail and some other stuff. If the rep didn't find that better plan, it would have costed more for less :v: The new plans nowadays include features like caller ID, the old ones do not and would be extra few bucks a month. Times have changed which is good, some is for the better. [editline]8th September 2014[/editline] Also welcome to the bullshit that is the Canadian Telecom industry.
That's a crazy plan Gary, since Rogers tend to have better signal than wind.
My bill is like $250 a month, but that's 3 phones(payments) and unlimited data on two of them. Everything else is unlimited too. Along with various taxes and fees e.e
That's a crazy plan Gary, since Rogers tend to have better signal than wind.
Rogers has the much better network than Wind. More coverage, more bandwidth, more towers, more everything (including price). Wind mobile/signal is pretty terrible :v: even in downtown Toronto area. If you are ever going to huge events in Toronto, apparently Wind does not work at all because of the congestion while every other carrier works fine. I got a wind sim during the summer and used it from time to time and loaned it out to see how the service is like. Wind would also work for me because I mainly travel and do stuff inside the wind zones anyways although I figured actual reception, reliability and usability outside of the Wind zones and even in the wind zones was important. I've experienced shit service and slow HSPA data speeds on Wind this summer but it does really come down to "you get what you pay for". They are working on it and it's better than it was before. Their services does work for the most part. They charge you for using short code numbers :/ Also, LTE. I've come to the conclusion that Rogers LTE is generally pretty fast and reliable and pretty much everywhere in the Greater Toronto Area. Their network does actually work, can handle my data usage, is practically everywhere where I've been to and super fast speeds can be achieved. Not the "up to" speeds but somewhat close.
That cable management is a lot better then what I've done in a past.
1 Harddisk I have is located on top of my PSU without being attached somewhere. it's just sitting there, waiting to fall down when I move my PC. Also some SSD's dangling in Mid-Air. And the Cable management is more dense than a jungle. So now that my phone is rooted, any cool things I should do?
I have no reason to overclock tho
So now that my phone is rooted, any cool things I should do?
Flash custom ROM, and then go back to stock, once you realize that all ROM's are pretty bad.
Flash custom ROM, and then go back to stock, once you realize that all ROM's are pretty bad.
I don't find Cyanogenmod that bad on my S3 personally.
I have no reason to overclock tho
Undervolt it
Anything is an improvement over touchwiz.
Call me weird here but I don't recall having issues with touchwiz when I was using it. I just installed Cyanogenmod on my phone because of the extra features and the possibility of increased battery life.
We get unlimited everything (1gb of 4G then throttled to 3G) on 3 phones for $90/mo
Cyanogen mod is terrible now
and the phones (think galaxy s2 but by LG and shittier) were $100 each unlocked with no contract
I have a G2 that I pay $18 a month for. [editline]8th September 2014[/editline] I owe like another $200 on the phone and then it'll be paid off. But I can also upgrade next april instead.
Cyanogen mod is terrible now
CM6 was the best CM. It went downhill from there.
Welcome to Canada: The home of the shittiest cellphone plans in the world.
Welcome to Canada: The home of the shittiest cellphone plans in the world.
Pretty sure a country like Iraq would have it worse.
So I try to open page 1407 and instead I get my browser tab forcibly redirected to a puush. RIP in peace page 1407, i may never know what sort of content you held
Did you hear the rumors about a potential Microsoft acquisition? It would lose 90% of its userbase overnight.
Maybe that's what they want
Did you hear the rumors about a potential Microsoft acquisition? It would lose 90% of its userbase overnight.
I really doubt MS is buying it. The rumour spans from Satya Nadella talked with the Cyanogen guys. He was probably just trying to sell them on OneDrive or just trying to keep good relationship with them (You know, trying to avoid another Google.)
It was shitty content. Except I broke my MBR.
We also talked about Cyber cafes
Nevermind gapps.zip, perhaps they want mapps.zip included in each build by default? :v: Can you imagine Android with Bing integration out the ass? Quite distasteful.
Cortana on Android. That would be something else.
Cortana on Android. That would be something else.
If it doesn't have a hologram projector then no sale here
Pretty sure a country like Iraq would have it worse.
Price wise, nah.
