I bought my first nifty fifty!
Sadly it's attached to a Minolta X-700 with a film advance issue. Nikon and Minolta also don't mix, but what the hell, it was $3.

You got yourself a damn fine SLR with that 50.
If it turns out to work (bump on the bottom took out a bit of plastic, either that or the powered-shutter with no batteries is preventing it from advancing film) I'll give it some use for sure. It feels so good.
Actually my main lens on my 7D is a Mintola 35-70 A-mount. Because I'm too cheap for an L.
So after one referral today my coworkers dropbox jumped from 14gb to 59gb. On a free account.

And here I am still using the kit lens
And here I am still using the kit lens
If you're just a casual user, kit lenses are fine. They're good lenses, it's just that stuff like L's are *excellent* lenses.
I use a phone to take pictures :downs:
I stopped using my DSLR a whole lot recently, I've been using my Nexus 5 camera a whole lot instead. Less crap to lug around.
All this smartwatch stuff really got me thinking. I way back in middle school I had one of the original smartwatches, a Timex Data Link, specifically the USB model. That thing was super cool for its time (~2005-ish) and ran on the same battery for years. Timex even had a publicly accessible SDK and required you to understand the assembly language its little Epson micro-controller used to create apps for it. Of course I abused it to cheat on tests, and teachers were none the wiser as it looked like I was fiddling with my watch. :v: I put the entirety of my Spanish vocab on there for a final.
Shame someone stole it from me and they stopped making them in 2010. They are stupid expensive used. Like the cheapest I can find is $90 (granted it comes with everything and probably what it retailed new).
And I would need a Windows XP VM since I guarantee none of the software and drivers will run correctly on 64 bit.

what the hell did Google do to Chrome? I never had massive leaks like these, I can't even have Chrome and another game open at the same time without running out of memory on an 8GB setup. this issue was not present at all before version 37
lol chrome
Got out my old Thinkpad A20m. Am I part of the cool kids now? :v:

Only thing that's really wrong with it is that the CD drive died and the DC jack is a bit loose. Browses FP no problem with Opera 10 though. And I'd rather not use Windows ME.
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
And this LCD is tall as shit despite only being 1024x768.
My Uncle had a T41.
That also had a 1024x768 screen and it was heavy as fuck.
They are hefty fuckers I'll tell you what. I thought the ASUS on the right was heavy, boy did this thing prove me wrong. It has to weigh like 10 pounds.
I might throw a light Linux distro on this because ME is practically useless. And keeps hanging up randomly.

Although as you can see FP manages to leak ram worse than reddit with infinite scroll

Also it's now continuously telling me that the tab I'm on has become unresponsive despite the fact that I can still use the tab underneath that warning
SeaTools is reporting that external as failed. It has some reallocated sectors and some sectors which were unrecovered.
Do you guys know if I zero the drive completely and reformat it will it work fine? As in, fine the data is lost, but just have it avoid those sectors? I'd like to free it up to continue to be a giant scratch disk once Crashplan is loaded up.
Back in yonder days when you formatted if it ran into bad sectors it locked them out at the expense of capacity (chkdsk would also indicate this). I don't know if modern operating systems still do that because new drives are generally cheaper and you don't expect drives to develop bad sectors so fast.
Also. I got an email from my ISP saying that someone on our IP was either DDosing or was repeatedly trying to access another system. I inquired for more details and among other things I got the following:
Based on the report we received, one of the computers using your connection
is infected with malicious software known as ZeroAccess.
ZeroAccess uses an advanced rootkit to hide itself and set up its own botnet
system. Once a system is compromised, ZeroAccess creates its own hidden
file system, downloads more malware from the connected environment, and
opens up a back door for access on the compromised system. The attacker is
then able to perform actions as per his requirements and the victim's system
becomes a part of the botnet. This infection targets both 32 and 64-bit
versions of Windows.
Checked the router logs. Sure enough it's my mom's fucking laptop. It's somewhat of a good thing I've separated their network and my network with different subnets and different Microsoft network groups. I'm fucking getting fed up with both their computers being fucking cesspools or malware no matter how hard we try and keep them clean. I'm this fucking close to installing DeepFreeze.
-Couldn't log in to Origin.
-Reset password with randomly generated 16 character one.
-Couldn't log in again after a million tries.
-Change password to a weak as shit one
-Log in works
u wot.

AFAIK, Origin has a 16 character limit, which is retarded and insecure to hell and beyond. And idk, but last time I tried, it only seemed to accept a-z A-Z and 0-9. I Dunno if they fixed that.
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
Thats one of the reasons I don't use Origin, unless I absolutely have to.

my GPU process was roughly around 100MB, but my FP browsing tab had gone up to 2GB. it's insane how quick the leak builds up as well, it only takes an hour or two before it reaches 2GB for me

I kinda want the FP API back, so I could create a minimal browser.
But FP has a curse on people creating FP clients.
I'm working on one for DOS.
Since I started dev work using Golang and Rust, and both provide native static linked binaries, I wonder if they would work on *DOS or Windows 95.
Is it even possible to get a Mini displayport to Dual Link dvi adapter for less than 100$?!
Is it even possible to get a Mini displayport to Dual Link dvi adapter for less than 100$?!
just checked swiss shops.
Damn they cost more than 200$
Hey, this (http://www.nelsonpires.com/software/dimmer/) is pretty useful coupled with f.lux.
I found f.lux not helping much because the screen was too bright even if the colours were more eye-friendly.
This Dimmer software, though, makes the screen dimmer (duh) without having to touch any brightness settings, so it won't melt my eyes anymore.
Only problem is that some screen elements won't change, such as the mouse cursor (f.lux can't do this either), task bar, context menu and Start screen.
Is it even possible to get a Mini displayport to Dual Link dvi adapter for less than 100$?!
It's not. Their protocols are fundamentally different, that's why all Mini-DP to DVI-DL adapters you see comes with a box with plugs that goes both into the USB port AND the mini-DP port.
Well, since Pentium finally upgraded to a computer made this century, I decided to upgrade to a phone made this decade.
I am now the owner of a Nexus 5. My old Droid wasn't even worth anything for trade-in, so now I think it will become a dedicated alarm clock.

My coworkers grandfather managed to get his deep frozen system infected. Blew our mind.

I also hear they can be really flaky. So if your ever in the market for a new monitor, you might as well get one with a native DisplayPort.
no it wont. you'll have to charge the 5 everyday, so might aswell use it as an alarm clock since it'll be charging overnight
welcome to the future, it is bright (but the battery life sucks)
Yeah but I have a cool stand-charger for the Droid.
I thought about bringing it to work as a test device, but we refuse to support 2.2 so we wouldn't use it.

Dam it. Was just about to ask if it was 2.3
