Just ran into this on reddit:
I was called in to a scientific facility to advise on coding standards for python. What I saw been done to python is nothing short of horrible. My favorite was the use of a module to hold a constant that they'd change and then reload(...) the module. I'm still flummoxed as to how that solution appeared.
What the fuck is wrong with people I now agree that creating the universe was a bad move.
I also hear they can be really flaky. So if your ever in the market for a new monitor, you might as well get one with a native DisplayPort.
I bought a DP->DVI dual link for about £25 (about $40) and it works flawlessly, even with a mDP ->DP adapter on the end too.

It's somewhat of a good thing I've separated their network and my network with different subnets and different Microsoft network groups. I'm this fucking close to installing DeepFreeze.
Install gentoo. Or just give them non administrator accounts.

Still blows my mind that it will output a usable signal AND a cheap Korean monitor will accept it over VGA.
Also. I got an email from my ISP saying that someone on our IP was either DDosing or was repeatedly trying to access another system. I inquired for more details and among other things I got the following: Checked the router logs. Sure enough it's my mom's fucking laptop.
You're a fucking monster. Was it at least dead before?
Of course, that's why he's taking the laptop apart!
Man I really need a day off. Slowing down so much. Built up 9 i3/760 systems today and it took me around 45 minutes a system versus 20 normally. Too bad my next day off is Thanksgiving.
I've developed the most efficient method of comparing SHA256 hashes, ever known to man. Compare the first two characters, and forget that the rest exists. Well, at least my backups are verified now. [editline]14th September 2014[/editline] Why are decent racing wheels so much more bloody expensive than a really good HOTAS setup? Grrrrrrrr. If I buy a HOTAS, I'd only use it for one game, that's not even really out yet, but I could use a wheel for so much more, but it costs so much more.
holy shit that's cool. BTWiFi/Openzone is free and unlimited to BT Broadband customers including FON hotspots across the EU how did i not know that before? we have a hotspot at school
no it wont. you'll have to charge the 5 everyday, so might aswell use it as an alarm clock since it'll be charging overnight welcome to the future, it is bright (but the battery life sucks)
can confirm, battery life is shit.
can confirm, battery life is shit.
Can't be worse than my old phone - original Droid, with original battery. It would last a day, and I could stretch it to two if I disabled bluetooth, turned the brightness down and basically didn't use it. As long as it can last through a day's use, I'm good.
the LG G3 lasts me about 3-4 days between charge. I don't use it a whole lot though, mostly an hour or so a day
There isn't really a perfect battery lasting time rating since in realistic terms, people use their phones differently. Maybe one day they have a long ass phone call or the next they never touch it. When outdoors where it's like bright I usually use 50% screen brightness because going to 100% doesn't really help a whole lot, on LTE, WiFi/Bluetooth off, getting messages from group chats on Google Hangouts, casual Twitter, Reddit browsing and all of that gets me about 2-3 hours of screen on time (which means how long the screen is actually lit up on, hence when you can actually use the phone for stuff). I can totally make my phone last all day by not touching it, ignoring the many messages that would go on in the group chats (2000+ per day), using the phone as a phone with the occasional phone call, SMS messaging and What's App. But no, I like bumming around on my phone so I don't see it really lasting me all day. I have a 10400mAh power bank from Xiaomi that some other people on FP have and it works well for my phone usage needs throughout the day. I've never drained it in a day for using it myself only. I have during a trip with some people as I was charging like 3 peoples phones. If I was to go full on power saving mode, I can see my Nexus 5 lasting the entire week since no one really calls or SMS me. I'd have data off, etc.

I think my battery has gotten worse and worse because I probably went through 1000 full charge cycles by now..

The Verizon ones had terrible 3G chipsets and the first gen LTE ones, so they just ate batteries just syncing email. Only way to get them to last any realistic amount of time was to disable data or go into airplane mode.
