I managed to nab a few core 2 duo desktops from the scrapyard a few years ago.
Either those or the 20" 1680 x 1050 monitor with a loose internal connection and no damage.

Mac Pro and a Motorola Droid. Free. Well, it was "payment" for an internship but they were already paying me so it was basically a bonus for not being as crap as every other intern they'd had.

Same. It was even maxed out at 1 GB of RAM. Along with two 17" 1280x1024 monitors. The church I volunteered at gave me a 2.8 Ghz P4 rig with 4 GB of DDR in 2010. First rig I had that actually was decent at gaming. Also a Gateway 2000 Boston Acoustics 2.1 system, which is still pretty bitchin'.

I wish I had something to hook it up to. It doesn't work with my TV and my Apple display is in use.
All it has on the hard drive is Diablo 2 and a soundtrack to one of the original Star Wars movies :v:

I got two Galaxy S IIs for free. They now both run cyanogenmod and one is used by my little sister as a little portable game console and another by a friend who didn't have a smartphone.
They're still extremely usable and run a whole host of things fine with minimal lag, oddly enough. I could even swear the S IIs had less UI lag than my Optimus G Pro.

Unlimited LTE phone data on Rogers, costed $10 a month for two months, then $15 for the third month. Costs less than unlimited data on any actual ISP in Canada or in most places elsewhere in the world and the speeds were around 40Mbps down/20Mbps up depending on time of day, location, etc.Yes I'm making good use of it.

Mine was at a company so it was pretty much wiped back to a clean install of OSX 10.4. I'm honestly shocked they were using them until 2013. It still has the LAN IP sticker on it though. I run Debian on it though since it works better for me as a small VPN server since I don't have any attachment to OSX, especially a version that old.

i7 3770k. Guy at school thought it was fried and wouldn't listen when I told him his cooler was seated incorrectly and it was just shutting down due to thermal overload. Bought an i5 and told me to keep the i7 despite me showing him it was working. Weird dude.

Is there nothing I can do to dampen the noise a little?
Is there nothing I can do to dampen the noise a little?
Install the game to the HDD. If you can't, then your SOL. The DVD drive is just a noisy motherfucker for how slow it is.
[editline]18th September 2014[/editline]
Ironically, the Power Supply is stupid noisy on mine. Its louder than the system itself. :v:

Yeah, I was considering swapping out the 20GB one in the drive for a WD Scorpio and sticking anything and everything on there instead.

Its really the best solution at this point. Though some games (especially ones before the installation feature like Halo 3) do NOT like being installed and will bitch at you about it so take note of that.

I got mine from a garage sale. The guy even had the original mouse and keyboard which appear to have barely been used.
He also had a G4 tower, but he wanted $80 for it.

Found a core 2 quad system with 4gb of RAM on the side of the road during junk day once. Threw a gpu and HDD I had laying around in it and bought a $40 case and sold it for $400

Yikes, way too much money.
Mine came with the original keyboard but its definitely yellowed from 10 years of constant use.
Just bought the hard drive, gonna plug it in tonight and start copying crap around.

you know how to modify the drive firmware, right?
So there is no way for it to tell you on the browser version itself?
Press the gear in the top right, go to settings. Bam.
Oh, late - and this is for Onedrive.com.
