I've had my 2500k for almost 3 years, hope i can make it last another 1 or 2, or sell my rig and rebuild. Sat strong at 4.6ghz on my old cheapass MSI P67S-C43 for a couple years before i got a Z77A-G45
haswell E extreme 8 core has 2 fps diffrence between i5 2500k at stock
I am waiting for Skylake.
Tbh for only gaming an fx83xx fx9xx or i5 2500k is good enough.
And they're not even that expensive anymore
edit: you fuckign ninja
My first gen i7 doesn't have any problems either, at stock clocks even. The only game that gives it any trouble is Planet side 2, but that's a whole other story. PS2 is still playable at like 40-60fps though.

I need a mobo with 6GB sata ports
I still have a 2500k too. Seems like to me that CPU performance hasn't improved much over the years and most effort has been power efficiency.

Which tbh isn't a bad thing, but there's no point in spending 400-500 on a new motherboard and processor just for a marginal performance improvement and a few watts off your power bill.
I know my 4670k will be fine for a long time but I know as soon as I have the spare cash I'll end up getting an x99 setup

RAM Disk was a good idea.
Just realized the dude at Micro Center gave me the AMD bundle instead of the nVidia bundle.
Eh. Finally now own Star Citizen, Sniper Elite 3 and Murdered: Soul Suspect. I'll take it.
Also AMD is revealing something on the 25th of September.

My eyes. SO dry. Behold it in un-thumbed glory.

Fingers crossed for a faster architecture (finally)
please?
I'm pretty happy with my 2500K and GTX 670. They don't have too much trouble playing things at 1440p.
Christ that's worse some of my 10 year old IDE Deathstars.
raid 1 does horrible things, but i'm paranoid of data loss so
You need to get an SSD ASAP.
when >500gb drives go below $200 i might start investing

Maybe they'll release something to compete with Intel on the high end

Yup. I'm on a 2500k too. I'ma upgrading to a water cooled 980 / 2500k at the end of this year.

Well, steam in my browser is only loading in Greek for some reason. I have Google Chrome so hitting translate is no issue but I don't know...

Well I did get two 500GB Samsung 840 EVOs for $220 each, so you're not far off.

What does RAID1 have to do with data loss? You should be backing up.
What does RAID1 have to do with data loss? You should be backing up.
In the wise words of everybody, RAID is not a backup.
7% of my system has been backedup to Crashplan since I started it a few days ago. I have now like 800GB used this month in bandwidth. Can't wait for comcast to say I was torrenting or something.

they're over $300 here, so it's a long wait

This is why I hate when clients come in and ask for RAID1 in a system build for "an instant backup so they don't have to remember to"
Those pens are the tits. I use them for writing my notes for reviews. I love writing with them.

And an instant backup is a worthless backup, assuming it mirrors.

I tend to buy a few good pens and never get rid/lose them, use refills, etc...

I like parker rollerballs because I am left handed and one of those along with some random Pentel rollerball have been the only pens that haven't repeatedly jammed on me while not smearing my hand with ink at the same time
I'm looking at you Pilot G2s
Who hand writes stuff anyways?
