Can't really say anything as the pics are scaled down to 1600x900 instead of 1920x1080.
Am I blind or does it just look blurrier
It looks marginally better, but not nearly enough to justify the size you're rendering it at
Its a tiledshot, its not like hes running that res realtime or anything.
[editline]edit[/editline]
Although, I don't remember the UI being drawn for tiledshots.
This is a primarily UK based question - but has anyone here done Further Maths at A Level?

Heh, I am actually. Average FPS in the 1920x1080 scene : 80
Average in the 7680x4320 scene: About one frame every four seconds or so.
New TV at the Warship residence.
Here's our old SD plasma I found a couple years back. It certainly beats a CRT, but not much more than that. It's basically 640x480 at 42" (Not exactly 640x480, but something close)
Has really good speakers though.

Today we went and bought a new TV because the media receiver box died (The plasma TV is so old that they didn't even combine the display and tuner parts in one) so now the plasma is basically a very shitty computer monitor (It uses a VGA connection)

Sony did a great job on the OS in this thing, it's really responsive and things are where it makes sense. I haven't browsed the 'net on it yet, but the youtube app is pretty cool and fast.
It's also got a bunch of cool features like screen mirroring that works with newer android phones and WiDi devices. And if you connect a 32GB USB drive to it, you can timeshift and record TV.
And it's like, 4-5 times thinner than the old TV :v:

Maybe use a decent image host like postimage or imgur so we can see the real, non scaled down, pictures?
Oh, and the new one is a 42 inch too but it looks a shitton smaller than the old one because of the very tiny bezel.
That was at crysis not warship
damn you
Merge and content splitting. Not my day.

oh for fucks sake
STOP

Changed. Sorry about that.
Ended up purchasing one of those nifty Virtual-CD-ISO-External-USB3-Drive-Enclosure things Zalman make, someone posted a link to it a while ago and I couldn't live without it.

Put my old laptop's 320GB HDD in.
No more burning OS, Boot and other CDs/DVDs for me :)
I just managed to get Crysis to render in 7680x4320, and then scale the image down to fit 1920x1080. :v:

Isn't this basically what Super Sampling AA does?
Changed. Sorry about that.
That doesn't look that good considering its 8K, my screens taken at that res look much better:

Vanilla textures?
Just glancing at the thumbnails makes it look like they could as well be photographs
reminder: this is a 2007 pc game
IMO Crysis is still the best looking game ever made.
Vanilla textures?
yeah its completely vanilla.
Isn't this basically what Super Sampling AA does?
SuperSampling is done in-engine. The final image is the correct size. Tiledshot is basically downsampling, where the game runs at the higher res and you scale it down later.

No tiledshot is where a screenshot is taken as a grid then stitched together to make a high res image. the command itself does no resizing whatsoever.

Not really fair to say that when looking at heavily downsampled images with perfect IQ and good composition. Completely different from actual gameplay.

... I don't know what point you're making.
Point I'm making is that SSAA is designed to run realtime feeding the proper resolution to screen.

the part of your quote I made bold was infactual. I have no issue with the first part, which is why my post didnt reference it.

I just found it funny you were explaining that to me.

I'm at the point where i'm picking my A Levels and I hope to go on and do CompSci at Uni once i've done my A Levels - most uni courses say that Further Maths is preferred. Problem is, I didn't do accelerated Maths and i'm only targeted for a B (when you need an A for Further Maths).
How hard is Further Maths compared to Normal Maths?
So my university was giving away FREE books so I grabbed 5 books.

However they are very old. The oldest one is from 1987 (the one about the 68k processor). But free is good, right?

Pen computing? Pen-tablets have barely taken off. Although everything about that pen screams late-90's.

I think the book is from like 97 or something.
Would anyone like to explain to me in the simplest terms (I'm not an expert on rendering) on why games look just as good no matter how high the resolution. Some textures look too complex to be done in vector.
