Guys. Everyone knows that updates are annoying as hell but you do actually need to do so.
Its all fun and games until someone's bank account is stolen.
Which uni's are you looking at? All the ones I look at want an A in standard Maths, no further maths.
Sure you're not looking at Computer Science & Maths courses?
I've looked at a few so far,
Bristol (closest) - "A*AA to include A* in Maths, or AAA to include Maths and Further Maths" - Source
Bath - "AAA - A*AB" (incl A in Maths) - Source
Oxford - "A*AA - The A* must be obtained in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics or Computing." - Source
Cambridge - "A*AA" - Source
On the complete other end of the spectrum, you've got UWE, which has barely any requirements.
I know. I just can't be arsed and it's actually REALLY annoying. I'll do it one day when I know that I won't be on it for more then 24 hours which is usually never.
You can pick which important updates you want to install, so you don't have to do it all in one session.
Drawing with this thing is so much fun though. I wish there was a way to get functionality like this on my mbp without spending half the price of the laptop.
a good wacom tablet will only run you £60 (less in US)
We just got the 290x in at work, Going to pick it up today
rip cubemans ears
I want to see the 290 and 290x with aftermarket coolers, i think they will perform much better than the 780 ti. And even now the 290X and 780 TI are pretty much on par in terms of performance.
Windows 8 is only on this ultrabook. I dunno if I can improve the battery life but the IPS screen's really nice and sharp. The keyboard is also backlit but a little stiff for typing and it feels rubbery.

No. What your doing is fucking retarded. EPICALLY considering Window's 8 Antivirus is in the fucking OS, and that's how it gets some of its updates. I takes a few minutes, fuck, a few seconds with an ssd.
Talking of Computer Illiterate People Who Think They Know Things -_-

That's some exclusivity right there.

I haven't had a virus since ~2009.
I do search for them often, and I'm pretty sure i don't have any.

Java Drive-By, Visit a website, done. Any and all exploits for windows 7 since 2011 ( hint, a lot). You are a hackers dream. Fuck, they'd assume your some 90 year old that doesn't know shit about computers. Update your fucking computer.

I never use Java so it's disabled. I never visit strange sites. Silverlight disabled too.
Always updated browser.
That usually breaks in if you give it 1-3 weeks. I'm curious to know what it's actually like and if it even compares to a MBP. (Comparison being battery life, portability, comfortable use etc etc)
So you mean it'll be better in a weeks time?
And by Windows 8 on this ultrabook, I meant it didn't come with 8 Pro, just 8 Core.
I had to change settings here and there because it wasn't quiet out of the box. Great screen, but reflective. I still reckon the MBP will beat the U920T, it's like a slightly cheaper Sony Vaio Duo 11 with a 12.5in IPS LCD. I have a small album of the thing here.
And get some anti-virus, common sense won't always keep you safe.

Just update it. Stop trying to make reasons for not doing it.
Is that Windows 8's new battery icon? It's a bit big for my liking.

if he doesn't want to update then he doesn't have to, holy shit
he's not committing a mortal sin by sticking with his setup
But the battery life is mediocre, I tried every setting to make it more than 3 hours but none seemed to work very well. I got it from John Lewis.
Shit that was directed to ~KiwiV2~
Oh man i just got the best idea.
I'm gonna make a forum that when you post, the "computer" posts a bunch of laughing image replies to your post.
Some gore? Laughing salad.
Food? Gifs of people having a good time

It's surprising how often I can't/won't read the webcomics I follow because an ad or two contain exploits which causes Google to flag them as malicious websites.
Watch a couple of Def-Con talks then tell me you think your computer is secure...
Common sense is not a suitable alternative for proper security measures, there's a reason as IT guys we have standards we need to adhere to (I personally deal with PCI Compliance on a daily basis, working in eCommerce)
Man, after a few days of using this 2560x1440 PLS panel, I feel like every normal monitor is using Flux or something. The colors are just so great, and there's all this room!
my case fan keeps getting louder
Also my cat like bugles wtf

What brand did you get? Haven't looked into Wqhd panels in a year or so, and I think I may need one as my 1080p 24" is disgusting compared to my mbpr.

I needed one with Displayport for my rMBP (which hasn't been ordered yet, but it's planned). There's a risk of up to 3 dead pixels, and minor backlight bleed (if it's bad, it looks like the seller will replace it). I got lucky, however, and got 0 dead pixels, and a (near) perfect backlight. It looks incredible.
Word of warning though, the displayport models cannot overclock, while the DVI-only models can.
