Watch a couple of Def-Con talks then tell me you think your computer is secure...
Common sense is not a suitable alternative for proper security measures, there's a reason as IT guys we have standards we need to adhere to (I personally deal with PCI Compliance on a daily basis, working in eCommerce)
Yep. I looked into how virus's ect are made and it's really much easier than you think, more so when your computer is fucking not being updated and doesn't have anti-virus.
I take "You don't need to outrun the bear" approach to security. If somebody wants my shit they can probably take it if they really wanted it. So I try my hardest to ensure that my security is hard enough that any would-be thieves would instead pass over to someone who isn't as well protected.

In adition not all of the DVI-D only ones can, mines DVI-D only and won't O/C one bit, it depends on the PCB inside too.

I needed one with Displayport for my rMBP (which hasn't been ordered yet, but it's planned). There's a risk of up to 3 dead pixels, and minor backlight bleed (if it's bad, it looks like the seller will replace it). I got lucky, however, and got 0 dead pixels, and a (near) perfect backlight. It looks incredible.

So I know what I am buying now after I return my Surface.
So I know what I am buying now after I return my Surface.
I would get one but
A: I like 21.5"
B: I'd rather have better texture's ect than more res.
Oh, quick thing with the QNIX 2710: The stand is literally shit. Not even figuratively. A chinese sweatshop worker actually went onto the production line and just dropped his waste onto the back of the monitor in order to make it stand up on its own. It doesn't actually tilt and it's at an awkward angle, and there's nothing that can really be done about it, besides taking off the backplate and removing the entire stand, and VESA mounting it.
Already have a Vesa mount on my desk. Everything is ready

Well I need a Thunderbolt to DP cable

IIRC, thunderbolt ports are natively compatible with minidisplayport. Might save you some money that way.

Woo! U2713H here - basically the same thing, just some updated ports.

I dunno if using a Thunderbolt peripheral with DP works, or does it not work that way?
I dunno if using a Thunderbolt peripheral with DP works, or does it not work that way?
You can use a DP sink on a TB source but you can't use a TB device (ie HDD) on a DisplayPort source.

Wish they were compatible.
Wish they were compatible.
Well, TB is basically taking the DP standard and adding extra connectors for data. You can't fault VESA for only wanted something that can supersede DVI, they didn't have other shit in mind.
I've looked at a few so far,
Bristol (closest) - "A*AA to include A* in Maths, or AAA to include Maths and Further Maths" - Source
Bath - "AAA - A*AB" (incl A in Maths) - Source
Oxford - "A*AA - The A* must be obtained in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics or Computing." - Source
Cambridge - "A*AA" - Source
On the complete other end of the spectrum, you've got UWE, which has barely any requirements.

You can pick which important updates you want to install, so you don't have to do it all in one session.
You realise that those are the requirements for most courses at those uni's right?
I had to leave my 2560x1440 panel at home when coming to uni so just runing a 1x1080 display.
23EA63 all the way.
Man I miss those pixels :(
I'm probably going to be sitting on my Samsung TV/Monitor setup for quite a while. Its quite convenient because I don't have to get off my arse to watch TV or a Blu-ray.
when i get my new paycheck i almost want to buy another u2711 just because i can
You realise that those are the requirements for most courses at those uni's right?
Yeah. I just don't know if i'll be able to reach those grades or not.

It bothers me that the National Weather Service will take your channel off of the weather channel showing you exactly what the storm is doing in order to have a crackly voice talk over loud beeps without any sort of radar images.

Eh, they're all 1200px high and IPS. Personally, I think 3 16:10 monitors would be too wide for me. Still works great:

I keep trying to rationalize the Surface Pro 2 over my Macbook. It's not working :(
At least I get to keep the 200gb of skydrive and 1 year of Skype Premium.
