To disrupt the speaker discussion I have a puzzling thought.
So, if a monitor has multiple inputs (such as both DVI and HDMI) can I use the DVI for a PC and the HDMI for something else (games console, etc.) and then record the HDMI input via the computer?

Can't you people just wait for the knock?

lol no

well i never really make stuff like this..
when i lived at my parents house i put that webcam next to the door and installed some motion detection software, it worked kinda like a doorbell
lol no
Thought so, after posting it it occurred to me the monitor would need an output into the computer as well.

Are Hungarian 55-64 year old women REALLY the target demographic of my videos?
Well shit. My first venture into overclocking and I bring my clock speed up to 4 GHz from 3.6 GHz and my temp at max loads according to a stress test is under 80C. My fan is still quiet as hell.
All I did was move this plastic piece that fits over my heatsink fan to direct airflow from the side vent better. I just moved it over like half an inch and suddenly all my cooling issues and noise problems are solved.

I find this awesome because, back where I used to live (and when I had my second monitor as well), I had my own EyeToy setup to do the exact same thing.
Look what i did guys, i just saw it and had to grab it

Can I have it
Can't you people just wait for the knock?
The whole point is to see who is on the other side. You don't have a peephole to see if somebody is about to knock.
Can I have it
only if i can have you

How about you take him and I take it?

I just wanted a friend :<
I'd rather have one of those 780 Ti's myself
I'm waiting for Nvidia next gen. AMD and Nvidia are competing so hard right now, it's awesome. No doubt Nvidia's gonna have a hard play next gen.
I wish we were seeing a similar amount of competition and price slashing in the CPU space.
I've put up with this loud ass computer for 3 years and all I had to do was slide a plastic vent piece over the heatsink fan properly.
I'm feeling really stupid.
With that in mind is it worth waiting months for nvidia's new line or is it better just to get the 760 now?
It should be a better idea to wait no matter what since it shouldn't be long off now, and then even if it does suck you'll get the price drops on the 700s.

We are! ...Just not in the PC sector.
With that in mind is it worth waiting months for nvidia's new line or is it better just to get the 760 now?
If you wait for the best, you will be waiting forever.
I think the 290 presents a much better value against the 290X and 780 ti.
The 780 ti and 290X perform pretty much on par. and if amd didn't say "You have to wait 1 or 2 months before you guys can make custom coolers for it" Then much more people would have bought it.
Its the same with the GTX 680 and the 7970, when it came out the 680 was a little bit faster than a driver update for the 7970 came out and it was in some cases faster or on par.
Also personally i like AMD more as a company, they do their stuff more open, just like Mantle, TressFX etc.
I wish Nvidia was more open, Do game bundles like Never Settle or make stuff like Gsync open, Even Mantle can be used on Nvidia cards and tress fx too, it would have been nice if PhysX or ShadowPlay could be used on GCN too.
I wan't to see what they have to offer when they show off Maxwell.
Even Mantle can be used on Nvidia cards and tress fx too,
Citation fucking needed. Mantle is *definitely* not usable on Nvidia cards - it doesn't even work on older AMD cards (pre-GCN), AFAIK. That's the downside of making an API for ultra-low-level access - it isn't portable to other architectures.
TressFX might run on Nvidia cards - it's basically just some hair-rendering middleware, probably written in OpenCL or something. But I haven't heard of them opening it to run on Nvidia cards, much as Nvidia has not opened PhysX to AMD cards.

Mantle has been confirmed to work on Nvidia cards but only if they would add support of mantle to itself. Which means you're right in that its not usable on them yet. And yes you are right it will not work on Series before 7000 and R7/R9 Series. You can use Mantle on any platform, be it GNU/Linux or Mac, Windows etc.
We still don't know if Sony will use Mantle (Or at least i haven't heard anything about it) , Microsoft wont, as they don't seem to care about PC gaming.

TressFX is OpenCL and does work on Nvidia cards. Just really badly because AMD needed a selling point.

You're gonna have to source all of that.
As per Repi's talk (Pretty much the reason Mantle exists) at APU13, "Mantle for Developers" Mantle is currently WINDOWS ONLY.
[url=http://puu.sh/5lHB5.png
]Mantle is said to be not tied to GCN, but they only say "Not tied to GCN". That could just mean it also works with AMD's roadmapped µarchs. But I'm leaning towards that because later in the talk, repi says, paraphrasing here, he wants a Mantle 2.0 that works on everything from Mobile to Workstation.
But also saying Mantle is more open is absolutely rediculous. Right now, it's completely not. We have absolutely NO information on it apart from a few fucking presentations. NOTHING. ZILCH. We can't use it, we can't see the spec, nothing. They've released bullshit. So far the biggest we've gotten is 3 LINES of code from it, also during Repi's talk.
Oh, and saying AMD's more "open" than Nvidia is just stupid. They're pretty much on par. Nvidia's the one pushing all the common postfx shaders right now. S/HBAO, FXAA, GI, proper soft shadows, et al. Hell, stuff like CG. CUDA, PhysX, whatever. You're not going to see those two on AMD cards but at that point it's a fucking miniscule contribution compared to the rest.
Mantle has been confirmed to work on Nvidia cards but only if they would add support of mantle to itself.
I can't parse the syntax on that statement fully - do you mean "it will work on Nvidia cards once AMD adds support of such to Mantle", or "it would work on Nvidia cards if Nvidia decides to implement it"? Because the latter may be legally allowed, but still completely impossible to technically implement.
And on the Mantle on pre-GCN AMD cards section, my understanding is that it is GCN itself that is the requirement, not merely being a recent enough card. This would rule out the 7670 (and below), the 8490 (and below), and the R5 230, 220 and 210, as well as any currently-released APUs. This fits with the stated goals of Mantle being to allow ultra-low-level access to the hardware - a level low enough that a different architecture requires a different API, not just a different implementation of the API.
